I only tuned in for the second half, but it's been back and forth.

After Canada scored, we Sweden was rattled. But they started dominating near the end.

Having said that, I thought Canada had the better chances in the second half. We have one player on the right side who is 2X as fast as the Swedish defenders - we just need a good pass to spring her.

Go Canada Go

I would’ve thought that before last season. But his stock has dropped imo. I think they’re looking beyond him now. 17th overall, drafted 4 years ago..

I'm sure there are fancy stats to bear this out, but my general impression is that the Leafs are still terrible at developing players.

Loading up the Marlies with guys over the age of 25 is not helping. I mean, congratulations on winning the Calder Cup, but that shouldn't really be the driving factor behind what we want the Marlies to do.

It's possible he no longer fits Leafs plans as a future roster player at this point.

It could be likely that he'll be packaged up before the season starts for another player or at the TDL.

Having said that, he's still on his ELC (waiver exempt), is only 22, and has only continued to improve year-on-year. He's the kind of cheap contract who this team will need going forward to balance with the elites.

We'll see.

Can we just agree that all Leafs prospects suck?
- Atomic Wedgie

Only if we can also agree that the actual Leafs suck.

Rose? That lady can run!

Ashley Lawrence looks dangerous too.

Hope they can find a way. Would love to see Sinclair end her career with Olympic gold.

The idea Rubins and Hollowell are ahead because Liljegren was drafted 17th overall 4 years ago and hasn't become an NHL regular is so stupid it hurts.

Hollowell was a 4th rounder, Rubins wasn't even drafted. Neither has even made them think about putting them in an NHL game. Meanwhile Liljegren sits on the fringe and plays top pairing Marlie minutes.

It's like saying the leafs 2023 5th round pick is currently ahead of Amirov because he's not a full time nhler yet. 🤦🏻‍♂️

👏 4 👏 years 👏 ago.

17th overall.

Looks awful at the NHL level.

NEXT!

Burn and turn.

Keefe won't play him.
Let's wait until we have a decent coach before writing young players with high upside off.

Yup.

Giving up on a 22 year old defender because he had a rough batch of *checks notes* 13 NHL games is absurd.

I'm hoping he continues to develop with the club but I won't be entirely shocked if he is traded to help bolster the lineup while they are supposedly in "win now" mode.

But yeah, not every 1st rounder is a banger that can crack the lineup in a couple seasons. He may not project to be a top pairing guy, but he can be a reliable third pairing defender who could grow into a Top 4, yes please!

he’d know if he’s capable of playing in the NHL, being former Marlies coach and all.

Coaches always say, the NHL isn’t a development league. If you can’t crack the big team as a mid 1st rd pick after 4 years, it’s time to start looking elsewhere. Unless ur a goalie.

Except it is.

Many players develop their game after seasoning and given a chance in smaller roles.

Keefe is 62-29-12 as an NHL coach, I really am curious what good coach would be with the leafs

While this certainly can be the case. The 2017 drafts top defensive prospects outside of the big two (Makar/Heiskanen) and Jokiharju are all in the same place as Liljegren.

Unless they get something good, what's the point in giving up the asset? Even if he ends up as a 5-6 guy in two years, giving that up for a 5th or something isn't worth it especially with the cap crunch the Leafs are going to be in and needing cheap players on the blueline as depth.

I don’t think they’d get much for him. Certainly not a mid 1st. There’s a reason why his stock fell in the draft. Leafs were naive in thinking that they somehow know more than other teams.
