They need to do away with the ratio and recognize that what makes the Canadian game great doesn't work in the 21st century when you're essentially competing with the NFL for TV ratings and the NFL is a juggernaut. Just accept the inevitable, merge with The Rock's XFL, play 4 down football on the CFL field and start the season right after the Super Bowl and the CFL would survive/thrive.

Talking to VHG this morning he says still pretty smokie in K town. I seen a video this morning of a ferry full of people being evacuated from an island in Greece. These fires are getting worse every year.

Clear here so far. Vernon on evacuation alert, crazy times. Relatives in Vernon have ash all over their cars. My nephew is a volunteer fire fighter in Coldstream and he’s up in Falkland fighting the fires. Incredible pictures he sent.

Just got back from walking the dog and the smoke has rolled back in.
Was supposed to do the kelowna to Rock Creek to Osoyoos ride with some buddies but the smoke has filed that up again.

Should have not done the Olympics once it was cancelled the first time, they should have been moved the Tokyo Games to 2028 and just did the 2024 Games wherever it is when (hopefully) the pandemic is just a bad memory.

Breakdown of Darnell Nurse deal

Year 1 – $12-million salary
Year 2 – $10.4-million salary
Year 3 – $12-million salary
Year 4 – $10-million salary
Year 5 – $2-million salary, $6-million signing bonus
Years 6-8 – $1.2-million salary, $6-million signing bonus

The entire length of the contract carries a no-movement clause and in the final three years of the deal, Nurse will provide a 10-team no-trade list.

Beyond getting their top defenceman locked up through the Oilers cup window, there’s very little beneficial about this deal from Edmonton’s perspective. If Edmonton wished to buy out the final year(s) of his deal in an absolutely worst-case scenario move, they would incur cap hits virtually equal to his current AAV (if my math is correct, and I’m not certain it is).

Best-case scenario down the road, the Oilers don’t have to worry about that. It would look like Nurse continuing to get better as he has for the last number of years earning every single penny of his deal while bringing a/some championship/s home to Edmonton. (Their words, not mine...)
