I'm just saying he's not this great piece. And the fact that some Rangers fans have touted him as a nearly untouchable piece is laughable. That's like calling Mittelstadt and untouchable in an Eichel trade. (frank), I wouldn't trade Mitts straight up for Kravtzov.

I get the Russian influence. But you don't trade Eichel so some 22 YO second rounders feel at home in 5 years.

What they have to offer is different than what they are offering.

They could offer Lafreniere and Shesterkin and two unprotected firsts and I am sure we would all be pretty pleased. And that doesn't even touch Kakko or their best minor league players. It's just that the offers we are hearing are...well, terrible.

There is no "negative value" to taking back Ryan Strome and Georgiev for a year. They are throw in's. Fine. There is no trade without them being included in the return strictly due to cap purposes.

Without anything else, Eichel is at least worth next years 1st, ONE OF Kakko/Lafreniere/Kravtsov, and ONE of Schneider/Lundkvist. You lose the trade with the Rangers if you don't get back at least this. However, I personally think Lafreniere is off limits and you're picking between Kravtsov or Kakko, in which case I'd definitely want Kakko.

There's a fine line between jacking up a price for useful veterans versus Loui Eriksson cap dumps. Yes Kevyn views veterans as negative value to this roster, but if they have trade value league wide, the Sabres need to take that into consideration, and should likely seek out a third team to see if they're interested in taking the flipped veterans.

we don’t know what we are gonna get in return
I don’t think Strome gets a 1st, so that piece is valued at a 2nd i guess?
We aren’t looking for a piece valuing a 2nd though
We are looking for four 1sts in value
And what’s Georgiev worth?
A 3rd maybe? He’s a backup goalie coming off a season where he was worse than the year before

Those types of pieces just don’t hold the value we are looking to get back for Eichel….

I disagree. Rangers have the ability to offer a good trade with Kaako involved. I don't know if Kevyn is fine acquiring a bunch of top 6/top 4 talents, or needs one potential top C and lesser guys. Kaako Kravtsov Lundkvist 1st is fine.

Risto's floor is probably close to Borgen's ceiling, in terms of overall impact. The frustration from Risto is that he showed high ceiling, only to fall right back to the floor and stay there. I will never say I'm happy to have lost Borgen, but I am happy with the Risto return. All things can be the true, don't ya think?

I don't believe there is any fear of hitting the salary cap floor so the whole articles premise is a little off. The Sabres are shy 5 point something million. Rasmus dahlin and Casey Mittelstadt should take care of that. Assuming Rasmus dahlin doesn't sign for 8 years 7 million and the problem solved. More likely scenario is the Sabres eat 50% of Cody Eakin contract for the year and trade them for a fifth-rounder if we're lucky or a guy that a team wants to give away in the Sabres take on one year's worth of salary and a draft pick like will butcher. edit, and I overlooked Henri jokiharju. That Trio is going to cost us 7 to 12 million dollars a year I think. So Cody eakins sticking around for salary-cap floor reasons doesn't work. The only reason he sticks around is like you mentioned faceoffs
