You guys might want to check out Samuelsson and Power's height/weight. They may not be fighters, but they are monsters. Risto fought what twice? Borgen was tough, will miss him, he wasn't worth what Risto got back flat out. But with the two mountains in the pipeline, kind of surprised this is the big worry.

Risto's floor is probably close to Borgen's ceiling, in terms of overall impact. The frustration from Risto is that he showed high ceiling, only to fall right back to the floor and stay there. I will never say I'm happy to have lost Borgen, but I am happy with the Risto return. All things can be the true, don't ya think?

He had certain players he played tough against. Kadri was one, Ovie, Marchand who was his other fight, but there was just never consistency and they were too busy scoring to be too unhappy.

I'm a Flyers fan. You guys wouldn't mind Hagg but you should still trade him before the season starts.

The price for Risto was also fair IMO. I don't mind giving up that match for a top 4 RHD especially when he can slide up to replace Ellis when he inevitably is out for ~10 games. Myers was the only NHL caliber RHD prospect we accrued over our 7-8 year "rebuild" and we didn't even draft him.

We tried two summers ago acquiring Niskanen and Braun. The success from that was short lived. I'm okay with what they did this summer to fill those two RHD slots in the top 4. Be it giving an extra asset in a trade or overpaying in FA, it had to be done; glad we chose the former.

I’d have gladly traded a third rounder to Seattle to have them take someone inconsequential

Because it wasn't done in a vacuum.

There is a larger plan involved where that made sense.

If there were an alternative to which they could have offered a third or so to not take him, and they value him more than third, that makes sense.

But just because you spend years developing people doesn't mean they are going to be successful.

See Bailey, Baptiste, Card, Funk, etc.

Yes he showed more promise than those above, absolutely. But again, he hasn't had a huge sample at the NHL level.
