That doesn’t answer my question. Why would Boston want to send Hall home? Why should they give a (frank)? As for a functioning Gaudreau that’s a huge maybe at best. Hall is infinitely superior to Gudreau and that’s no hyperbole.
- HonkyTonkMan

Far superior? At what? Providing teams with 1st overall picks?

I maintain my theory, that Gaudreau played like crap with Bennett on purpose, just so the coach would put him back with Monahan. That's why 13's name is rumored, and that's why Sam Bennett decided he wasn't going to play hard for Calgary, and just gave us BS effort levels the whole time he was here.

Two words...sign and trade.

You don't sign someone in free agency with the intention of playing for your team to trade them. That would have happened well before free agency started if Calgary wanted negotiating rights before free agency.

Normally I would agree. But Hall is from Calgary. It would be a sneaky good move.

Dude. You need to lighten up a little. Most of these guys don’t realize you’re trolling Ek.

I know it’s tough to tell by looking at him, but you might be surprised to find out that Gaudreau isn’t actually a 12 year old girl.

This would allow Hall to come home and Gaudreau to be closer to home. Maybe the Flames can throw in Trevor Lewis. As Ek said, you could be getting a fully functioning Gaudreau instead of the malfunctioning one.

The question was - why would Boston do that?

And why would the Bruins want a 34-year-old who's played 11 games in the last 2 years? Well, make that 19 if you include playoffs - but the 0 points those 8 playoff games is not exactly reassuring.

A fully functioning Gaudreau is better than a homesick Hall. If you don't agree, just ask Burke and Hexy. What say you kids?

Did you seriously just say Johnny Hockey would warrant Barzal and a top 4 D?
Sorry, Son, Johnny Hockey’s best days are behind him, is a 2nd line player on a good team and a useless playoff performer.
Is he a horrible pick up for the Isles? No. He would be a good replacement, even an upgrade over Eberle, but not much more than that. His stock has been free falling for 2 seasons now at least.

- HonkyTonkMan

lol He had 99 points the last full NHL season...he played much of last year with Ritchie or Simon on his opposite wing.

Put Gaudreau with good players and he will put up massive points. 22 points in the final 16 games when Sutter put him Tkachuk and Lindholm together.

Based on what exactly? Gaudreau is younger with a better PPG in his NHL career than Hall

1) Who knows if Gaudreau would be "fully functioning"
2) You have nothing to base "homesick" on. Hall was UFA and chose to sign with Boston.
3) Bruins don't need another small forward - they need someone who will survive in front of the net
4) Gaudreau has 1 year left then will need a new contract. Hall is locked in for 4 years.
5) You never answered my question about why Bruins would want a 34-year-old who played 11 games over 2 years...

It’s well deserved. Holland and the entire oilers management team are the worst in the league and have been for some time.

Why wouldn’t Hall have just waited till free agency and just sign there rather than costing his hometown team assets to acquire him? You huffing propane, Son?

Hall wanted to sign in Calgary. He was born there. This was like an E4+. But the Flames didn't have the cap space and there was mutual interest in getting rid of Gaudreau. So the Flames asked Hall to sign in Boston so they could trade Gaudreau for him. I don't know. It's possible. I don't have any inside sources though. I wonder if NYR misses out on Tarasenko they take a look at Gaudreau or Hall.
