So better to just not let NHL players participate

It’s what they want.

Whatever, I’m not invested in it, and clearly it doesn’t seem a topic people are interested in discussing.

We now return you to your previous insanity, already in progress.

My kid was asking about the Olympics and non professional athletes.
I had to think about it.

I’m not sure when it changed to allow for pros in some sports.
Apparently only wrestling and boxing stay true to amateurs in Olympics.

There hasn't been a lot of discussion in here lately because one group just goes straight to "quit whining".

I don't see a lot of advantages to having the players go to the olympics. There is a lot of disadvantages of playing though for teams.

Most not happy with a condensed schedule last year.

I found it weird that in Soccer they allow u23 players but also a few older players.

Sure, but they didn't even make it out of the first round or even made the playoffs in some cases. You think Hedman, Stamkos, Vasilevskiy and even Kucherov are gonna want to (or be able to go) and have any gas left in the tank? I mean if the Olympics were in late August/early September then yeah, maybe that would work and even be a great way to get into shape before training camp but right after the playoffs? Might as well just do the World Cup of Hockey instead of preseason hockey.

I would imagine all of those players would if healthy, olympics is a big deal to most players. Basically second to a stanley cup is a gold at the olympics. World cup doesmt have that same value.

Canada could ice 3 competitive teams at any Olympics.
I’m sure they’d be able to find enough players

Make the Olympic hockey a U20 thing, better for the fans and a great experience for the kids.

The fans get to watch the kids at the Olympics and then get to watch their NHL team play on the same day.

Theres no way Hedman doesnt rep Sweden when healthy. Period. Anyone posting like the olympics isnt huge to players is out of their minds.

Id rather watch Canada/USA gold medal over 90% of nhl games. Childrens hockey is not very entertaining imo

It's all financial that's why the NHL owners and players all want insurance to protect their chance of loss of income.

Thats perfectly fine. Making claims like we should watch kids instead because it would somehow be better for fans has nothing to do with gettinv the money/insurance right. Theyve done it before, they can get it done

I'm fine with the NHL never being involved with the Olympics. I like your U20 idea.

👍
The salt lake game was awesome , Mario letting the pass go between his legs was awesome, best on best leads to the most memorable moments.

An extra WJ every 4 years is not our best vs the other countries best , stick to Olympic involvement every 4 yrs and ditch the world cup of hockey🤑

NHL needs to move the season start back to beginning of September, no overlap vs NBA during playoffs, no hockey in end of June , and set the schedule so that in Olympics years , no all star game or break

U20 is being done. The format they had best of the rest is just fine.
