Yeah, I’d say there’s definitely a cap to what Zito will offer Sam, he probably knew that number before making the trade. I was actually surprised to see him go after Reinhart.
They have contracts and dead money expiring next year where they should be able to shift that space to Barkov’s new deal. Then repeat the scenario with Huberdeau the year after. Zito’s work so far makes me confident that he actually has a course plotted to get there. It’s strange to feel that way about FL management. I could get used to it, though.

Yeah Zito has done a fantastic job down there, I hope some of what he's done has been looked at by Adams with his on the job training.

Yes, Im looking forward to seeing him on Barky’s wing, but it will be Verhaeghe on the LW. Huberdeau was on line2 last year, and when Bennett arrived, those two and Duclair were lighting it up. Huberdeau & Barkov still together on PP unit, and Ekblad will take Yandle’s qb spot, add Samson to that. (Verhaeghe probably the 5th guy)

I think if they manage to play a full 82 games next year, Sam could be close to a .ppg - He's always been a second half of the year player, too, so going into the playoffs he should be on a roll.

He didn't want to be here 3/4 years ago, why it would be different now is beyond me. Ideally Meatball and Adams communicated he will play top end minutes here as a stop gap to a playoff contender.

He's very intriguing as a bounce back candidate. I think the defense as a whole is the best position group on this team. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they look pretty good but the goaltending is just awful which renders it irrelevant
