I can't think of a single defenseman in the league I would trade Fox for straight up.
Not Hedman and not Makar. Any other candidates? - rangerdanger94
Agreed but would you accept Makar, Hedman, and a conditional fifth rounder for Fox? |

No, you're wrong, he's 1000X better.
Truthfully, I like Maker more too, but 30x? Stop huffing the glue. - GStone
Canadian D is far superior. |

Now this makes you look bad
You can say you want Fox over Hedman because his age, but Makar is better, younger, and proven he is better at every level (he was better in college too) - Stripes77
Makar is better offensively, but overall when you take into account both offense and defense, I would say Fox edges him out.
At the end of the day, the title of best player in any position is always up for debate. There are some people that would argue McDavid isn't the best player in the league because Crosby is better defensively and as a leader.
You can make the case that Hedman or Makar are better than Fox, but you can also make the case for Fox over them too. The fact that it's a debate you can make solidifies Fox as an elite defenseman that is top 3, no less than top 5.
Regardless - Fox for Eichel straight up would be fair value wise, if Eichel was fully healthy and wasn't pushing his way out of Buffalo. Because of those factors, Eichel's value takes a hit so it would have to be Eichel plus a pick. |

Instigators asking callers "what's the difference between Eichel and Allen."
This should be good - Hank Balling
Allen is flat out a baller. Eichel is a biotch. Allen has tried to prove everyone and your mother that they were wrong about him and so far he's doing it very well. Eichel needs a taste of humility and to stop crying like a little girl. |

A Fox for Makar swap makes little sense for either team but I'd give the edge to Makar.
Hedman's 30 turning 31 in December so that's a no for me.
I wouldn't swap Eichel for Fox 1 for 1, but out of all the terrible proposals Rangers fans have proposed at least that one makes sense as he's one of your best players for our best player. - IceColdBeer
I’d take makar over fox as well. It’s close tho

Of all the crazy Eichel stuff StrangerDanger has said, the Fox take isn’t close to the boldest.
Fox is crazy good and young
He won the Norris for god sakes |

Carter Hart's three-year extension with #flyers carries a $3.979M AAV -- a nod to his sweater No. 79.
Yikes...for a goalie who couldn't get his head right that's an interesting contract - Stripes77
But if he does, it’ll be a bargain |

My only question on Fox is how much he wears down physically with the minutes he plays based on his size, as he's not a big guy. |

Philly fans said similar things about Ghost too when he busted into the league & broke out
Not that Fox will bust out also necessarily,
but it does happen
So let’s at least see him have another great year or 2 before we start calling him the best defenseman in the league |

Really? My question is whether last year is was anomaly. Don't have to worry about the physical aspect for a long long time. |

Dan Boyle managed to play at an elite level for a long time.
Fox absolutely deserved the Norris this year as he was just as good defensively as he was offensively.
However, because it was just this singular season I completely agree that it’s a stretch to say he’s the best d-man in the league.
Makar and McAvoy are still ahead of Fox in my eyes in terms of younger d-men. |

Fox - xGAR 10.5, xWAR 1.9, xSPAR 3.5
Makar - xGAR 14.8, xWAR 2.7, xSPAR 4.9
For reference, Ristolainen is literally negative Adam Fox. He's almost exactly the opposite. |

McAvoy's impact to his team is on par with Fox.

I'd do Fox for Makar but I wouldn't for Hedman because of age. I don't think there's another defenseman I'd take though, all things considered. If Fox does the Rangers a solid and signs a team friendly deal around $7.5-8M I'd take him over Makar at $9M though |

All 3 of Makar, Fox, and McAvoy are looking like they are going to be elite d-men for a long time.
Makar would be my pick of the 3 but I mean you can’t go wrong with any one of them.
It’s like comparing luxury sports cars. |
