Nolan Baumgartner will run the defence and penalty kill, but new assistant Brad Shaw - who helped blueliners blossom in CBJ - will offer sage advice on getting Juolevi’s game to another level while also helping direct forwards and the power play. - VANTEL
Boo, Nolan is garbage. In fact a garbage bag would do a better job. |

Tbh I was somewhat neutral at the time & definitely not disappointed. I didn’t know enough about him & find it difficult to gauge Russians. I also didn’t have a better pick in mind at that time. So I was ok with Pod. |

It would be much easier to just get rid of the cap. This is exactly tly what Martin Brodeur said would happen, because of the cap.
#Lindensoldouttheplayers - Reubenkincade
C'mon be realistic. At this point, even the players are on board with the cap. Remember that the cap started at $40ish mil and has more than doubled in 15 years. The average salary has skyrocketed and the minimum salary is almost a million. The players are relatively happy with the cap.
The players fight will be with respect to escrow and the tug-of-war on percentage of revenue.
Arguing to get rid of the cap is like arguing for contraction of the league or for playoffs to get contracted rather than expanded. Lol - anything that potentially raises revenue will be supported by players and the league.
Oh and arguing against state taxes etc is pretty rich coming from a fanbase that says players will sign for less to come here due to "desirability to live here." Should we try to even that out as well to help out Winnipeg and Edmonton? |

It sounds like Shaw is the head coach, helping all the others do their job. I'm waiting on an asst GM that can show JB how to do his job. |

I didn't say I was proud of it.
Yup God Damn woke up around 6.30 this morning and my dream was Canucks announcing the signing of OJ and Twitter was excited.
I definitely need to find another hobby |

I think so . I have a feeling like you said , he is in charge . If he can teach them the proper way fine and if he can't they will probably be moving people out.

The owners insisted on the cap, so that all teams were on an even playing field. With the tax structure being better for some teams the playing field is tilted in favour of those teams.
Also, the cap never really addressed the real problem, which is the GM's giving out crazy dollar amounts in contracts |

Didn't JB get a couple assistants? I dunno. Could be only one as they look kinda the same.

The cap was about limiting the amount/percentage going to the players. It's served its purpose well.
It was never about fairness. That was a PR line to garner public support vs the players. |

He's the new "special advisor" to the coaching staff it seems like. I'm sure he will have a hand in everything.
If the team doesn't do great to start, I could see him taking over for TG real fast. |

The cap addressed GM’s giving out crazy contracts. Finite $’s to be spent. It created more buyout situations &/or hamstrung clubs. The president of a club should better control his GM. A rich team Leafs offer huge signing bonuses as an enticement. |

So Shaw is not going to be in charge of defence?
But i thought this was going to be our hidden weapon to improving our play on the back end?

I heard they took all the urinals out of the Canucks bathroom because all the players prefer to sit to pee, it might explain the softness. |
