Reading some of these posts it seems some on here think this team is worse off than we were last year as far as quality/fit of roster? It sure seems like we've got 3 capable lines of D, and a nice mix for the offensive lines, X factory being if Frost can make the team as a center, If so we have nice deep wingers and a little bit of everything - Shooters, Net front, Youth, Experience I can't complain about the potential of this team after several years with little moves made for the "Now". Is the team worse off because of Jakes points and Ghost being traded?

Sonia glendening and bellemare. But understand why. But would ve been interested in brassard as well for 1 mil. - Peter Richards
Where would Brassard play in this lineup? Brassard hasn't been a good player for 5 years now.

The discussion was who we were interested in before Thompson. No brassard wouldn’t have been my first choice. But would take him over Thompson for the 13 th forward. |

Why? He has no value as a role player. Thompson is better in that role. Again, where are you going to play Brassard and what will he give you? He's an offensive player who can no longer score.

There is no way, cap wise, this ends well and next season will be worse. Even if they find a taker for JVR’s entire cap hit, they will still have to re-sign Couts, Giroux and Farabee. They will also have to re-sign Ristolainen unless they really are Ok with paying a premium price for a one year rental. Oh, and unless one of the prospects steps up, they’ll once again be looking for a 2nd goalie.
There is simply no way this can all be accomplished with the cap staying flat. |

For a similar role he played for with the isles. 3 rd 4th line ability to spot fill up.
Still scores more than Nate. And would be fine as the 4 c or rw. |

No he wouldn't be fine. Brassard is done as a player. Not capable of playing a role as a 4th line center. Consider the cap situation and the forward lineup. Thompson brings more to the 4th line center spot. Brassard makes zero sense.

They'll have to move JVR without retaining salary at some point. That will require giving up quality assets. Dave Scott has got this team right back to where they were under Holmgren.

Your opinion. How he do in the playoffs this time last year? Had more points than Nate all last season. |

Once again, great job on the signing of second line center Kevin Hayes. I like Ryan Ellis but what was the salary Differential on a deal for him that saw Patrick and Myers go the other way. You have to make youth work. |

Not very well since he wasn't in the playoffs. Brassard needs PP time to score. He's not a 4th line player. Again, who do they push out for Brassard? He is not going to push out Thompson. Thompson is more valuable as a checker and PK forward than Brassard is as an offensive player. You haven't thought this out very well.

Not on my part, I never thought they would protect JVR, Voracek, or Ghost. Not once. Even after they traded Patrick.
What DID surprise me was that Seattle took Bunnamon, I did NOT see that one coming.

I feel like the Flyers could win the cup next season and people on here would still complain we gave up too much for Ristolianen or signed Nate Thompson as a 4th line center. - J35Bacher
Yes, finally a smart post here!!!

I really don't have any doubts that this team should be a playoff team. I have no doubt that they will be improved and more fun to watch. However I won't be ecstatic with just making the playoffs and winning a round or two. Not with what they done. Just being a playoff team while being capped out is a failure as far as I'm concerned. I witnessed that level of hockey for years under Holmgren. Always going for it and signing top free agents, trading picks. They got close once and that was great. I've set my sights higher. That's why I'm not 100% on board with the moves they made. - MJL
Good root for another team then and go post on their site your insufferable pontifications and hyperbole.

Looking ahead to next year both Giroux and Couturier are UFAs. With Giroux currently at $8.275M and Couturier at $4.333M they will both have major implications on the Cap.
Where do you see these negotiations going? I would have thought Couturier would certainly command a higher salary. I am not convinced that Giroux would command a pay increase.
Do you see the Flyers trying to keep both players? Can they afford both players? - MRK66
Giroux is off to Montreal next season, buhahwhahahahahahahaha
career failure,
no stanley cuppers
no olympic invites
not even a zippo lighter |

The flyers will pay ex selke for past performance. - hello it's me 2050
On the plus side when they do you won’t have to hear me female doging for a long time. I’ll be checking out as avid flyers fans and watcher if they do that |

I would rather read this guys posts all day long over Bee Gees and Todd Rundgren 2050.
At least they are funny. Kind of cliched and not very creative, but still funny. |
