To be fair I think the entire Flyers team struggled the last 30 games of the season. I mean, Fletcher described what it was like on the team last year, no energy, no smiles, just a glaze over the team. I really think we need to understand this and discount a lot of the struggles that were going on last year, especially towards the end of the season.

Chemistry is big in hockey. Who knows whether or not chuck has adequately repaired this aspect but to say it doesn’t matter would be foolish.

He says I’m sorry for making so much money on the cap and that it cost the flyers so many picks to get me. As well, he states he’s not re signing here and he’s always dreamed of playing for the ducks like his idol selanne hahah

Even if we exclude Frost and O'Brien, Hextall still has more than 3 hits. You have such a thirst to come at me that you don't even realize how you make yourself look. It's very humorous.

dont flatter yourself ding dong, I grade hextalls 1st round picks as 4 out of 8, piss poor id say, but your comment of most of his picks being good is just hyperbole. Any GM that has a 50% hit rate in the 1st round should be fired....oh right he was

They have shown to actually be quite in tune with fan perception.

Or at the very least, trying to influence it. There was very pro organization leaks immediately post Hextall being fired, as just an example.

fans these days are not very off on what is wrong. The process to fix or what goes on behind the scenes is a different story

Is this a new revelation for you? You stated that players sucked and should be moved based on last season in the past.

I hope he does well. It wouldn’t be the first time a Buffalo player has improved their game once leaving.

The extension is worrisome, but a quality top 4dman with his attributes could be most useful.

Flyers just need to stop paying these secondary guys to be more than they are.

What are the Rangers first round picks in the same time frame, year by year I’d be curious to see

"Need to start building chemistry with goalie and d partner both on and off the ice."

"so excited he could play tomorrow"

"I will fit right in Philly with their blue collar attitude"

"A lot of room for improvement in my game and I think a fresh start will allow me to be so much better than I have shown in Buffalo."

What is it with players coming to Philadelphia, regardless of sport, always having to lick the boot of the Philadelphia sports fan by saying something about blue collar, passion, blah blah blah.

It’s cliche and cringe.

very true, I don't agree with all that they have done, I can justify the moves one way or the other but I am a life long fan and once the team is set I am behind them 100%. I know I don't know how to do their job, they couldn't do mine, it is fun to comment and speculate but let the season begin.

I want to see how he adjusts to playing here and hope he does well. At a minimum it will change the chemistry. If he does great, then we’d have to re sign and we’ll have to sort out the cap at that time. The extension is probably the most worrisome thing for me about the summer moves. Im not losing my mind over re signing our young stud goalie who had an off year nor Thompson. I highly expect that chuck had a plan in place prior to singing hart.

No where near as good. Hextall's picks were also better in later rounds. Hextall has two known 1st round misses at this point in Patrick and Rubtsov. Jury is still out on Frost and O'Brien.

I like what he says, he knows he has to be better, part of me wants him to kill it this season but a small part wants him to be just good this season.

Same with me. I disagree with their approach but once the games start, behind them all the way and will objectively judge the moves.

i dont mind it.His comments show hes self aware and accepts the realization of his shortcomings with wanting to improve unlike say, Ben Simmons

and with Rubtsov, there isnt a player within 12 picks that has done a thing.....hindsight shows that draft was devoid of nhl talent

Very well put and agree. I am willing to give chuck some rope here to see if he can improve the team. If we have a successful reg season and a playoff run i doubt we’ll be too fussed about 500k extra to hart and Thompson.

Soo maybe we should have waited to sign Thompson huh

Nate Thompson is like the last in a series of unfortunate events that began w/ JVR and Hayes.

Goaltending and coaching are my two. It’s not that I don’t have faith in Hart’s abilities but last season wasn’t just bad, he was imo one of the worst goaltenders in the league.

After limited insulation provided by Elliot, Jones was just as bad for the last few years. They are placing a lot of hope in Dillanbaugh, who Id have let go after a season like last.

In relation, a lot of moves were made to address the roster but only promotions (Lappy), when it came to the coaching staff.

Time tells all, but I maintain to keep that crew after last season was a mistake. Systemically, the overuse of dumping the puck and having the dmen looking for constant hail mary’s with the forwards already leaving the zone left this team smothered last season.

Vigneault has been broken since that Montreal series, and I’m ignoring his calling out of players to the media, along with questionable development of the youngsters.

3) Acquire an LTIR player. If the Flyers were to acquire a player they know has little to no chance of being medically cleared to play (either for the whole season or at least for a large portion at the beginning), they could maximize a long-term injured reserve (LTIR) allowance to replace the injured player's salary on the NHL active roster. In recent years, Tampa Bay and Toronto made use of this strategy to be cap compliant during the season.
- Bill Meltzer

This loophole should be closed. LTIR should only be if a player already on the roster has a long-term injury.
