we make the playoffs and do some damage in the post season if: 3 of these 4 score 20 goals next year. nylander, Borgstrom, Gaudette, Toews. we get .920 from MAF, and Mcabb stays healthy and 2 of these 3 make a nice step forward Wyatt, stillman Caleb.

we miss the payoffs if MAF does .910, Mcabb is not healthy, We are bottom .25 in draws and we have very little secondary scoring.

the top is what Im hoping for the bottom is what Im worried about? any thoughts.

also I would say that some of these big D deals. I wonder if ZAD gets closer to 5mil then 4 in ARB. might have been a great move to Q him and then trade him. still think we should have Q suter and then traded him but Im sure we tried to before without any luck. hard to believe a guy that got 3.5 for 2 years did not have any value.

Suter was more complicated than that. I believe he was arbitration eligible? If so, I really don't think there were teams lining up to pay him $3M+. That not only made it more difficult to trade him if qualified but Stan did not want to get stuck with him for that price. We already have Strome and Connolly making the same. Look how little Gaudette signed for do you really think Suter is +$2M better?

Very good power play options. Also one to consider might be Borgstrom ... a big body, good hands, another center out there if needed on draws, and if you watch highlight video of him on youtube, he is in the slot or in front of the net a lot.

Somebody said yesterday he's 5'9"? I remember when the trade went down there was controversy over his height?

That was some kid they drafted this year. Borgstrom is 6'3".

Not a puck retriever or someone to crash the net. As un-Shaw like as you can get.

Thanks. Mostly friendly. Actually in training right now, being abused in the simulator for a few days.

Hard to put too much stock in power rankings, but interesting to note that Sporting News put the Hawks at 8th in their offseason ranking from Monday. Obviously is a bold statement, but we are definitely starting better on paper than last season, with Toews likely to be playing.

For me the PP units would break down like this.
PP1
Debrincat - Toews - Kane
Kubalik - Jones

PP2
Hagel- Strome - Nylander
Johnson - Murphy

8th in the central? Sounds about right.

Zdeno Chara is still an available FA. Brings size, grit and crease clearing ability.

Think he could get from one end of the ice to the other in under a minute?

With the length of his stick, he could stand at the center line and still keep pucks in the o-zone. So he only has to skate half the ice.

Assuming the rest of his game has come around to be a viable player, I would guess that Borgstrom will ultimately gain a spot on one of the units. He's got a really nice, accurate shot that he gets through traffic. He's also shown that he can set up teammates.

Guessing that flight simulators are something pilots generally don't like doing but the average person would find interesting.

Hang in there and be safe in the skies...and from any unruly passengers.

Keep in mind, that the guy in front of the net on the power play, has more of a job than just to stand there. The best players to do this properly, were Shaw and Soberberg. You have to keep moving where the puck is moving, and TAKE THE GOALIE'S VISION away from him. Certainly hands are big factor, but you can't just stand there. You could also stand there and block the shot from the point accidently

At the moment, he is. Gaudette has much to prove with the Hawks. Let's not forget he was traded for Highmore.

All that being said, I hope Gaudette turns into one of the those sneaky good deal like the Sharp(hi Ogi) and Versteeg deals.

Put Dach there....big body, good hands, he can cash in huge picking up the loose the scraps with his reach, etc.
