pick 28 and a late 7th round pick is a pathetic return for a guy that was 11th in goal scoring last season, any way to slice it - homiedclown Florida in no way is guaranteed to be picking as late as 28

It is.
It's a stain on what has been a decent offseason for management IMO.
Just hold onto him and sell him at the deadline. There's no way you'd have gotten less, and you probably would get more as he proves he's a top 6 center for almost a full year |

There's certainly a chance. I just don't see reason for the comments about wanting to resign and just not given a long term offer. Just doesn't seem like it was really needed there, he could have just easily said he didn't want to go through a rebuild...he'd said that to us directly. - QuinnFan
maybe he didn't want to be labled a quitter?...idk |

I don't see a 7th rounder in the deal?
I see a top goalie prospect though
Can't ask for to much when the guys going to just go to arb and leave after the 1 year deal he gets. - DirtyDan
Look closer, he's a long shot to make the big leagues, as most goalies are. |

Definitely could explain it. Isn't like KA is going to have some press conference explaining it. Another "wish I could be a fly on the wall" situation. |

Adams held an auction and that was the highest bid. (shrug) He held one for Risto and the bids were higher. There were reports that people were spooked by the possibility of going to arbitration with Sam (just as teams have been scared of that with Kahun).

And RD seemed to be in high demand again. Funny how we went from having a lot of RD to barely enough to cover are pairs. |

Couple teams told me Reinhart had an excellent arb case. So don’t be surprised by this number

Problem with this is that he wasn't able to leave. There was no deadline this offseason.
It's a very, very poor return considering Levi is a C level prospect |

The problem is that if he gets hurt during the year then you get nothing. Too much to risk.

Nah, how often does that happen? Reinhart is incredibly durable and doesn't play a style that leads to frequent injuries.
Pick 25-30 and an average goalie prospect is a pathetic return for Sam Reinhart. There's just no other way to spin it |

You can't just say it won't happen. Just like no one can say it would.
With what Buch got for NYR, it looks better in comparison, but still not great. The org bungled Sam from the very beginning, and did so every step of the way. I'm sure he's glad to get out, and who would blame him. Time to turn the page. The returns for Risto, and Sam, in totality, was good overall. 2 first, a second, a warm body and an intriguing prospect, before both went down I think all would have been happy with this. |

hit a home run with risto and whiffed on the skunk - homiedclown
Isn't it the general consensus around here that Adams did well to get what he did, as Sam was an RFA ? Getting a # 1 pick and Devon Levi is pretty good, all things considered. I think you're wrong - I wouldn't say he whiffed on it. We got what was pretty much expected for Sam.
I think you're somewhat blinded by the absolute steal for the Risto trade. Of course the next trade wasn't going to be THAT good...that was highway robbery.
In conclusion, you're wrong. Please respond with : "You are right...I was wrong with my assessment of the trade. I apologize".
Thank you.

I didn't say it wouldn't. I meant that's a poor excuse. The odds are slim
And Reinhart should be worth a lot more than Buchnevich. Draft status, consistency, positional flexibility.

You lost me there. Where he was drafted has 0 relevance here.
Buchnevich put up some pretty gaudy numbers this year, Reinhart has the edge because he can play the middle and that’s why we got a 1st instead of a 2nd rounder.
Both players got a lot less than market value. That’s what you get when you are trying to trade forwards at the absolute worst time to trade forwards.
We can’t even get a team to give up anything worth a crap for Eichel and Tarasenko is still a Blue for all we know.
GM’s were horny for d-men this year |

I think teams might be less inclined to give up a 1 in next year's draft. I was fine with what he did.

It absolutely does. We see it play a factor in a ton of trades.
If Seth Jones was a 3rd round pick do you think he would have the reputation he does and in turn get that big of a return? Absolutely not |

Playoff bound, cup contending teams? I doubt it.
I don't need the trade to define Adams as a GM, but the return is terrible.
They're going to end up with a Tage Thompson/Ryan Johnson leve draft pick plus an undersized 7th round goalie for a former 2nd overall consistently really good player. Brutal |
