you can make the case that the flames got a better return for bennett
Emil Heineman alone may be a better nhl player than levi and our late first from the panthers
and the flames got a second rd pick as well - homiedclown
And they are all prospects. Isn't it conceivable that all 4 players bust? Or any one of them turn out to be roll players, or good players with top positional upside? We'll see. We all think the return is light, don't think you are finding many that view it not. Wish we coulda gotten Denisenko or tippett thrown in as well. O well, I'm moving on.
Yet you keep pegging Fla as a lock to make that pick like 28.. Playoff team? Yeah. They still will have to go through the Lightning and a couple other juggernauts in the East for that to happen. - SDSabre
it wont be pick 14
best case for sabre fans, pick 20
realistic to see panthers as a final 4 team in the east making the pick somewhere between pick 25 and 32

This is a reasonable take, they're going to be good. Idk if they have established themselves above the Lightning yet. We'll see. Just keep building the prospect pool. All we really can hope for.

Do Yakupov.. Bet you wont.. - SDSabre
What about Yakupov? If a guy is absolutely terrible, and not a hard worker, and doesn’t really want to play in the NHL, then of course he’s gonna flame out.
I’m not exactly sure why you think that a point in your direction. He’s the exception
Cam Barker played for 5 different teams despite being awful.
Just like we don't know if Portillo will turn out or if UPL takes the next step. Just cause Levi was a 7th rnd pick doesn't mean Sh!t right know he could end up being the best goalie in are system. Ullmark was a 6th round pick. - Buff36
The only knock is his height but I think he's a dang good prospect

Yes that hurts him, but he makes up for it with hie athleticism and edge work. He's a prospect Just like the other 2, we just have to see how it turns out.
Is he ranked anywhere on any top 50, top 75 prospect rankings?
He’s a C prospect. Hopefully he turns out - sbroads24
I think that's the height thing and it very well might prevent him from being much more than a career backup but the kid is a battler. I'm sick of 6'5" goalies everywhere so I hope he beats the odds

ROR trade from Colorado.. We traded picks 12 and 16 in Grigerenko and Zadorov for O'Reilly. Before they were off their ELCs. There are a million examples of this, probably both ways. I'll just believe that the further you get from the draft, the less it matters. I'm not gonna convince you, you aren't gonna convince me. Like I said above, wish we had someone like Tippett or Denesinko in the trade. WOuld have made it much more palatable.

I hope he pans out just because he’s a Sabre now, but let’s be honest no one has him on their radar as a future #1 goalie. He’s projected to be a backup/AHL starter.

He's not Enroth small, so can be done. Also, it's a possibility that he grows a couple inches. Wouldn't be the first person to continue to grow at age 19.

Hopefully that projections wrong.
It’s just totally awful value for Reinhart - sbroads24

I don’t disagree necessarily. Of course as someone becomes more established the draft status means less
But it absolutely matters IMO for high picks who have been in a singular situation, like Reinhart or Bennett
Florida thought they could get more out of Bennett, because he’s super talented and was a high pick. They look to be right
A team might think the same with Sam. He hasn’t lived up to a #2 pick, but he was highly touted, and only played for a poor organization

If I may, you're 100% right on the height thing being way overvalued. Cossa going before Wallstedt is a prime example.
That being said Levi is years off. While he had looked great in that 7 game stretch, that was for a stacked CAN team as well. Keep in mind he hasn't even played major junior or NCAA yet. He's had one year in the CCHL, a lower league in Alberta, he won't be in RCH for at least 3 years unless something amazing happens.

Oh yeah, probably 4-5 years.
Power and Portillo are roommates. I expect them both to go pro next April. Portillo probably spends 22-23 in Roch and then comes up.
