So You are suggesting, that these two forwards are not "similar or about the same in their talent levels on the ice" ?
You're beating a dead horse because you don't want to suggest that Drury, not Adams was the one that got a "Poor" return while Adams got a "Fair" return. - MEBSabresFAN
They both got poor returns. Plain and simple
They are similar, I don’t think they are apples to apples though as Reinhart has positional flexibility and has been the more consistent player |

It's a 3-year sample size and Reinhart played with Eichel for vast swaths of the first two. I think it's pretty fair - Hank Balling
It’s fair, I just don’t think Buch is as good as Reinhart, and I don’t think it’s as close as the score cards indicate but I’m not gonna argue it too much
But Drury is off to a pathetic start as GM so it’s a very low bar to “out duel” him on what looks to be two pathetic trades
We’re gonna end up with Tage Thompson and Aaron Dell for Sam Reinhart
It’s a joke |

It'll be 5 years before we can evaluate the trade in all likelihood. Hell, the Pysyk trade finally just closed 5 years later.

I always disagree on that point. I think in most cases you can fairly judge a trade right away.
We’re going to know right away just how bad this Eichel trade will be |

Gotta give it some time |

Sure, they could trade Eichel for a 4th rounder, so we will have to wait 4-5 years to see if that 4th rounder turns out so….can’t have an opinion until then? Nah, you can definitely look at the value and determine if it’s a good or bad trade
If you’re fortunate that it works out years down the road it’s a different story |

I was thinking after we trade for him we flip him to the Islanders for a 1st with 50% retained. |

That's a bit dramatic. We're talking about a late first and what I would call a B goalie prospect for Reinhart. In all likelihood, Florida wins the trade but I don't think it's nearly as bad as you're making it out to be. The Sabres got a $5 scratch off and a $2 scratch off for $10 cash in my mind. They could hit or they won't, but it's going to a long time before we know |

Yes, a very good, multi positional player who had a full year of team control left.
He’s a top 30-40 forward in the league.
It’s a terribly poor return.
Reinhart is almost as good as Ryan O’Reilly is and we talk about that trade like it crippled the franchise. I’m not sure how anyone can defend it |

people need to understand that Levi didnt play a single game for Northeastern last season. Most Hockey East schools delayed the start, some schools not playing a game well into November. When Northeastern did open their season, Levi was with Team Canada and eventually winning the starting goalie job over two others who were high draft picks and much more heralded. Levi played lights out for Canada, even with broken rib(s). He arrived back on campus in Boston, but was held out because of the injury and the fact that Northeastern was having a very difficult season with COVID and injuries. Many posters here refer to him as a throw-in when discussing the Reinhart trade because he was a 7th rounder...But the kid has been an overachiever everywhere he has played. watch his progression playing in the best conference in college hockey this season, as Northeastern will have an excellent squad and Levi will be the starter |

If Sam Reinhart wins the cup, Selke and the Conn Smythe at center, then it will be close. Even still, the Sabres didn't take back any Soberglunds. Currently these trades aren't in the same solar system |

ROR also wasn’t a pending UFA.
If we should be mad at anything, it’s Adams not getting him signed long term last offseason, if not trading him last offseason for a better return.
This one year deal was stupidity |

They are. One brought back a 1st, 2nd, and a former 1st round prospect
The other brought back a first and a 7th rounder from a year ago
Both terrible
And I wouldn’t rule out Reinhart flourishing like ROR outside of Buffalo

Also we really gotta see how Ryan Johnson turns out to judge the ROR trade. So gotta wait a few more years, right? |

Well there was a few mistakes with Rhino, not just Adams. And if the story is correct I blame it more on Stank then I do Adams. |

He was an RFA with Arb rights leading him to UFA.
Reinhart had all of the leverage.

Nah, it’s lottery protected. It’s gonna be a late first or 2023 pick which will be a late first. Florida is good and getting better |

its top 10 protected so very low chance that pick moves the needle like the Skunk could. What if the player is 4th line guy on a winning team, would you consider that a win for this trade? |
