its top 10 protected so very low chance that pick moves the needle like the Skunk could. What if the player is 4th line guy on a winning team, would you consider that a win for this trade? - washedup20

ROR also wasn’t a pending UFA.
If we should be mad at anything, it’s Adams not getting him signed long term last offseason, if not trading him last offseason for a better return.
This one year deal was stupidity - Pegullaville
Yep, Sam was always the overlooked guy which became even worse following the signing of Taylor Hall |

Nah, it’s lottery protected. It’s gonna be a late first or 2023 pick which will be a late first. Florida is good and getting better - sbroads24
Florida is a good team, but so many things can happen during a season and there in a very competitive division. And the next 2 drafts are pretty loaded. Plus that pick could be moved for a different asset. But until I see what happens with it I am not gonna b!tch about it. |

A lot of bright minds in Bemus point this time of year. |

Also we really gotta see how Ryan Johnson turns out to judge the ROR trade. So gotta wait a few more years, right? - sbroads24
If Johnson is a top-4 defenseman then it'll certainly take some sting out. Watching ROR win the triple crown is pretty irredeemable though |

That one year contract was what doomed the return.
The writing was on the wall at that point.
Sam could have went to arb with any team and chose his own team next offseason.
Im not happy with the return either but we’re paying for past decisions here. |

The draft is loaded next year. Until we figure out what is going on with that pick why whine about it. That pick could be used to bring in a different asset not even at the draft. |

The Sabres have been doing that for years. It's a chronic lack of vision due to high turnover due to inept management. Botterill walked McCabe to FA this year. KA walked Ullmark to FA.
On and on we go. Where does it stop? Nobody knows |

Taylor Hall getting the NMC was probably the only reason why he signed with us in the first place.
I’ll cry about the Jack Quinn pick till the end of time but Hall forcing his way to the team of his choice isn’t KAGM’s fault |

Hey, I like the Sabres offseason for the most part. Loved the draft, loved the Risto trade, loved the Ventura hire, but a spade is a spade
For some reason it matters what Ryan O’Reilly did when he left here but it doesn’t matter that Hall was a PPG player and scored at a 35 goal clip for Boston?
If Eichel gets an underwhelming return than Adams will have effectively traded Taylor Hall, Sam Reinhart, and Jack Eichel for a LOT less than what they were worth |

It’s fair, I just don’t think Buch is as good as Reinhart, and I don’t think it’s as close as the score cards indicate but I’m not gonna argue it too much
But Drury is off to a pathetic start as GM so it’s a very low bar to “out duel” him on what looks to be two pathetic trades
We’re gonna end up with Tage Thompson and Aaron Dell for Sam Reinhart
It’s a joke - sbroads24
Issue I’m seeing is the Buch trade may have set the market. Maybe that’s KA holding on too long, or that’s just the way it was. Market price gets set most trades fall in line. At least that’s what I’ll tell myself until KA bungles an Eichel deal. |

I don’t think we can compare the Hall and ROR scenarios due to the NMC, with all due respect.
The rest of your argument is extremely fair, I’ve said my part the last few pages.
Would have liked more for Sam myself but KAGM screwed himself the second he didn’t extend Sam last year |

Not many playoff teams had the space for a guy that in arbitration could’ve gotten 7+.
It was a fear, hence why the return was the return.
Honestly surprised he did what he did. The thought was he was hell bent on being a UFA.
Take it or leave it. |
