That’s what I’m saying. It should be a positive story. Petey is a Canuck, wants to play for a winner. End of story. But the people who portray the media as negative, or complain that the fans (whiners) complain too much are spinning it as Petey being soft or whatever and they want to drive him to the airport because he doesn’t want to be here.

You don’t see how they are creating their own angst?

I guess, when I first read the tweet provided here I didn't assume he wanted out, and then I read the NHL entire tweet and I felt reinforced that he wants Vancouver and wants to win with the Canucks.

All the comments on the tweets I don't read, half the time i get the impression that they are guys like "k" just trolling the fan base.

I know some of the top slurppers on there and they are mostly saying "settle down folks" .

It reminds me of when Myers was going to sign and Ricky D had everyone freaking out that it was going to be 7x8.

I’m seeing stuff like “trade him for a boat load of picks and rebuild”, “$6.5 is too much, walk away”, “if he doesn’t want to be here, fine”.

On The Whiner side it’s mostly “yeah, seems about right”, “understandable”, “not sure what’s wrong with anything he said”.

Fan: complains that athletes are too vanilla and never say anything interesting.

Athlete: has a personality.

Fan: OMG, what a jerk, how can he say something like that!?!?

Even some of the guys who are complaining about the "whiners" and the hysterical fan reaction are talking about taking the picks on an offer sheet and his trade value.

And those are the ones that are laughing at the overreaction.

Typical Canuck fans.

I’m sure Hawksey’s a good dude, but every protagonist needs an antagonist for the story to be interesting.

TBH I would consider trading everyone for a boatload. I have seen Ruby and Bloated say the same thing. It has nothing to do with his interview. I think if a team is offering 4 first round picks you need to sit down and think about it.

Will there never ever be satisfaction ( I feel there is a good song there ),

So get all those picks have a couple of gems, they become good talent and trade for more picks, that we continue to cycle through...why can't we be satisfied and run with what we have

People flipped last season when I said no one is untouchable on the team...including Petey. If someone offered a package that was completely over the top... you have to consider it. Only a idiot would stop a GM from making an offer and say, "there's no package that possibly could be made for that player so this conversation is over."

I like Edmonton.

They have the best audio shops in western Canada.

No, they don't. You just can't hear things properly when you're head is up in the Anus of Alberta.

I think that's what EP is saying. He wants to see what they have and if they don't keep improving, he'll find a better fit.

A couple of points about the quote:
1) timing - I wouldn't be surprised if his agents told him to be honest in interviews about willing to leave to win. He's been a pretty blunt interview but this timing seems a little too good.

2) substance - nothing he said was deniable. He is not dumb. He knows that if they don't take a step forward this and the next season, JB is done. If JB gets canned, they're closer to rebuild than compete (obviously) so he's putting the franchise on notice that he won't spend his prime on a rebuild. Totally understandable.

3) reaction - nothing to freak out over but it's funny hearing about how the media Stokes the fire and/or the hysterical fans. Imagine how much fun "we" would have if McJesus said this.

Yeah you see guys like Eichel Laine PLD Reinhart Jones (and more ) wanting out or being traded and you realize nothing is guaranteed anymore.

See it all the time on Fox News, comments about “F China” and such, yet the types of people that frequent Fox News are also the types that shop at Walmart and over-consume on cheap plastic crap. Where do they think the cheap plastic crap comes from? Illinois?

And they are the first to complain about increasing cost of goods. So frustrating.

- bloatedmosquito

You're mad at capitalism, not poor people. They can't afford quality goods cause they're below the poverty line, but also can't get ahead and don't understand why jobs don't pay enough or aren't available.... Spoiler alert, because rich people make their poop in China to pad their profits. Like fat bastard said, it a vicious cycle.

With 2 innocent Canadians sitting in a Chinese jail, it would be appalling to send a Canadian team to China.

They talk about boycotting the Olympics but the US and Canada continue to import all the junk from China. Kind of a double standard.
- Shuswap Wap

Yup.
Need to stop the corporate conglomerates like Walmart and Canadian tire from purchasing from them.
Pretty tough to do though.
I try not to shop at the places like that, but hard to do, when you need something that you can't get in my super small community, unless I drive 700 kilometers.
