Tuomaala, who likes to model his game after David Pastrnak, scored 31 points (15 goals, 16 assists) through 30 games last season for Karpat at the junior hockey level in Finland. He had a big 2021 U-18 IIHF World Junior Championship for Finland, putting up 11 points (five goals, six assists) in seven games.

For once I think the Flyers deserve to get lucky on a player in the draft turning out to be as good as Pastrnak! |

Jagr was projected to be the most likely to make an immediate impact because of his physical development combined with his skill. Ricci was considered a safe pick due to his all around game and defensive responsibility. Maybe the Flyers saw Ricci as a heart and soul guy kind of in the mold of Clarke. - Minnyhock
That’s exactly how they, and most scouts at the time, saw Ricci. He was expected to be a point per game, 2 way, heart and soul player. They overestimated his offensive talent but scouting is an inexact science. At the time no one thought it was bad pick. |

Its been the theme since Fletcher and his scouts have taken over, they are clearly drafting for speed, tenacity and a pro shot. This kid and Foerster previously as examples. It was a clear need in the organization after Hextall seemed to value 200 foot player more than players with these qualities so its a smart move. - jd250
Were Konecny and Frost considered 200 foot players?

Remember, the draft was a poor draft and had a lack of available talent so picks in that draft were worth less.

Only in your silly little world is Mike Ricci, a guy who played 1099 games and put up 605 points, considered a scrub. - MBFlyerfan
600 of those points were accidental by playing with foppa and sakic 🤷♂️ |

So how exactly is a draft worth less?
A draft is a draft is a draft is a draft.
You win some you lose some.
Just like some people with concussions or shoulder surgeries
recover and have a career and some don't. |

In fairness they have until basically the end of the month. I think they'll get something hammered out before then. |

Per a previous convo with idk. Closer we get….now wonder if it will be a three year deal right to ufa. If York can step up then he may be a trade option in one or two years. Bunch of ifs though. Sanhiem that is |

Try not writing in parables it will help people understand WTF you are writing. Go back to the third grade and learn to write a coherent thought not based in what is happening in your head!! |

So here’s what is funny about bills article today.
In 1990 draft out of the top 5 picks that were taken 1 was a scrub. 20% chance of taking that scrub1/5. Philly has the 4th pick in draft so there’s a 100% chance they take the scrub (Ricci) just like nopa. And of course that’s exactly what happened
When the lord was handing out brains, did you think they were trains? And would be too heavy to carry.. enjoy

Interesting. Other people didn't seem to have an issue understanding what I wrote. You always have the option of asking for clarification. |

Yes, you're so right, we should just continue to stockpile picks, watch half of them get shoulder injuries or concussions and peter out, while sitting back and keeping our fingers crossed for 3 or 4 more years to see what the other picks turn into, then rinse and repeat. What a great championship team building philosophy this is!! |

You've convinced me. We should look to move all of our top picks. They're only going to get injured and not pan out. Actually in reality, using draft picks to select players is the best and most successful team building philosophy. I like to be consistent in that opinion versus on one hand attempting to justify the trading of high picks because it's not a good draft and out the other side, pumping up a player taken in the 2nd round of that perceived poor draft.
