I would have to agree on keeping Beaudin unless the trade brings back another D prospect like Erik Brannstrom or Jacob Bernard-Docker from the Senators (as an example) in exchange for Strome + Beaudin. The Senators would need to add a draft pick.
The Wild are supposedly in the hunt for a center so maybe Strome + Beaudin for Calen Addison or Ryan O'Rourke + a draft pick.
Same with the Sabres for Ryan Johnson or Mattias Samuelsson + a draft pick. - Theo Fox
Imo theo if hawks would package strome and beaudin together wouldn't be for young top 6 forward not saying another young d man is wrong but hawks lacking top 6 potential forwards in thier system and on the big club also. Don't get me wrong i really like beaudin and his upside going forward.

Depends what the other team is offering and what the Hawks value more (i.e. forward or defenseman). If a forward:
Consider Ridly Grieg from the Senators. Shane Pinto and Jake Sanderson (D) are untouchable. Tyler Kleven is another D-man worth kicking the tires on.
Or consider J.J. Peterka from the Sabres. Dylan Cozens and Jack Quinn are untouchable. I don't like their prospect pool as much.
These are just two example teams. Who knows who the ultimate trade partner(s) could be. |

I got my eye on this guy too, Theo. Would love to see the Hawks snag him from OTT. |

I was at the Stadium in 1966 for the Detroit Chicago semi-finals when CBS did the game, and had huge strobe lights suspended from the face of the second balcony, and the ice was painted a deep blue. At that time the Stadium was not air conditioned, and people were allowed to smoke. Harvey Wittenberg had to go on the PA and tell the fans to stop smoking, as it was fogging up the camera. That was when my dad (who smoked perfect garcia cigars), and about 10,000 other patrons lit up their favorite smoke. - LAHawk
I remember sitting next to all the fans in the second balcony standing up after a Hawk goal and fans dropping their cigarette in excitement on the seat in front of them…lot of fans with holes in their pants… had to be very careful! |

I like Ridly Greig more than this year's 1st rounders Tyler Boucher and Zach L'Heureux. All three are in-your-face PITA players but Greig is more well rounded and brings more value to the team than just the agitation and hard hitting.
Though, L'Heureux may have more overall skill, there's concern with his character. Being overly aggressive is one thing but he's been known to cross the line into Tom Wilson and Alexandre Burrows territory.
People can say the same thing about the Hawks taking Allan in the 1st round but I felt Boucher at 10th overall or even in the 1st round was a stretch.
Greig is also excellent in faceoffs and can play top 6 fairly well if needed but is likely suited best as a 3rd liner. Perhaps a more skilled Andrew Shaw. Blasphemy, I know. |

Looks like I’ve bought my last NHL jersey - Ogilthorpe2
Is it to reclaim lost money from Covid & no butts in seats? A permanent change? If the NHL wants money back, I'm not entirely against it. But like you, I probably bought my last sweater. |

I’d be surprised if this hasn’t been discussed for a long time. Anyway to generate more cash is always looked at. European teams have been doing it for years it was just a matter of time before it came over here. I’m sure Covid factored into it somehow but it was going to happen regardless. |

same what an idiotic move as they try to maximize every $! they can. what's next? ads on the ice in the offfensive zone like a euro league? - SteveRain
There are already ads on the ice in all 3 zones. |

When was the last time a business stopped doing something that generated revenues? There is your answer.

True true. Just wishful thinking, I guess.
Thanks for the response also, Paul. I do vaguely remember this being in the conversation last year. |

If generates more revenue for the teams and league to grow the product is good. As long as it doesn't get absurd like soccer. |

I personally would rather have limited ads, but I know too many wouldn't be a game-changer for me. I also tend to favor things that increase Hockey Related Revenue, half of which go to the players.
Just not my particular hill to die on. - mohel
I won’t die on that hill either. I don’t like it, but I’ll keep watching, just like I kept watching after the abomination known as the shootout was introduced. I just won’t ever buy a jersey with a Pepsi logo on it. |

It will be interesting to compare jersey sales pre and post ads. |

Also pre and post logo change. It’s coming. I’m more on board with that than I am ads. |

Hate the shootout. Just play 3v3 for 10 minutes. If nobody scores a goal it deserves to be a tie like in the NFL after 15 minutes. The NFL has about 2 ties a year. Anything is better than a shootout. 6v6 no goalies would be better! |

Strome for Peterka…sign me up. Peterka is a solid prospect and some had him ranked higher than Reichel in the 2020 draft. I’d even throw in de Haan or Carpenter (or both). |
