Definitely agree with this 89 and you would know more than I about such things. But as a fan and observer only, it has become painfully obvious (no pun meant) that this injury is a serious issue in terms of what teams will pay. Question becomes, how long can you realistically wait? Yes, we can wait him out for the rest of his contract.
I am trying to think of it like a bad relationship at this point... sure, she's hot as (frank) and has a rocking body. She also openly flirts with every guy she meets, fights with you every time you say it bothers you and she's a dumbass.

The thing is other teams want him. Some fan bases are starting to become unhinged about him. Paying for a billboard in Buffalo. Thatβs definitely putting pressure on their own GM to get the deal done. There is no rush ATM. Itβs only august |

some guy named curtis? also, any list without johnson in the top 3 is iffy to me. johnson is a better prospect that i think many sabre fans realize. JMO. - Gramps28
I posted my top 10 list a few blogs back and had him ranked 3rd myself. |

It's a Tennis match between Eichel's camp and the Sabres, been that way for months now. - SABRES 89
So what is actually going on? I would have thought that this would go to arbitration and that would push it forward.

You best get comfortable with Anderson and UPL, cause that's written in sharpie. You don't trade a UFA before the season starts.
Those propspects might be playing in the NHL this year. The Sabres are stuck with too many players and not enough salary. They almost need to trade for a dead body. And whatever vets they get, they probably want to ship them for 1sts and prospects anyway. - TheSabresTaco
Their +1 right?
Jack and Olofsson out
Send Eakin to Rochester
Leaves them -2

Adams will continue to show he is in charge and not Eichel or his agents. |

Only in Buffalo do we run off star players. - SABRES 89
Two personal experiences of mine with Eichel in real life:
1) At the time (I believe it was 2016) I was dating a girl whose older sister was marrying a guy that was related to the Basil family (Eichel's GF is a member of that family for any who don't know). Eichel was at the wedding, was at Park CC. Jack ended up standing next to me, literally shoulder to shoulder, smoking a cigar during the whole bouquet throwing thing. I turned to him in a moment of brief pause and jokingly asked, Hey Jack, where did you find that cigar man? Just trying to make small talk... and be a fanboy I guess. Guy looked at me cross-eyed drunk and literally laughed in my face saying "Somewhere". Walked away.
2) Was at Sunset Bay Beach Club on the 4th of July two or three years ago. With my (now) fiancee, different from previous girl. Jack walked in with a posse and Jack was wearing a Brooklyn nets jersey, black leather cap, and shoulder-lengthy wig of curly black hair. I have no clue why- maybe trying to be incognito? As if that's even possible anyway but shortly after, someone took a picture of them and unfortunately left their flash on (was later in the evening, dark out). I watched him whisper to his GF behind a cupped hand, point, and then his GF walked over there and told the woman who took the pic to delete it off of her phone while she watched.I asked her about it afterwards and she said this exact statement.
These two incidents are no big deal in a bubble, IMO, and I'm in no way bitter about them lol. Just think that they add to the point I made before not all that glitters is gold & really make me believe that where there's smoke, there's fire. |

nothing. hawks don't need room. no one left to sign and a full roster. they even have a bit of room left in LTIR usage.
But the sabres can have strome and connelly to get to the cap floor.
also. don't be fooled by hinostroza listed size. he is a bit heavier and the kid is a tough sob. he will fight along the walls for pucks. vinnie will give you everything he has every night. - Gramps28
I've said Vinnie is going to surprise some people.
The one thing the Sabres do have are hard working guys. |

As always thanks for reporting what you hear.
Geez, now we can't get the Flames top prospect? - Slump Buster
Zary has never been part of an offer, similar to Zegras, Byfield, Rossi, Krebs, etc. It's why Eichel hasn't been traded yet.
A return of Monahan, Dube, Coronato, and an unprotected 1st is not enough. It's very much a we'll take it because we need Eichel gone before the season deal.
Now, I'm not saying it's horrible, it's just not great.
They could flip Monahan as soon as they get him while retaining 50% ($3.2M ish for each of the next 2 seasons), thereby upping the return while also helping the Sabres hit the cap floor.
That would also greatly increase the chances Monahan would accept a trade to Buffalo, as it would only be a stop on paper before he's on his way to a more preferred destination. |

Skinner, Okposo, Mittelstadt, Cozens, Asplund, Thompson, Bjork, Girgensons, Olofsson, and Hinostroza make 10 forwards. Assuming Caggiula is the 13th forward only leaves 2 forward openings when Eichel is gone.
The total cap hit of the above is only $29M.
Add that to the $2M in goal and let's estimate $20M for the defense, and you have $51M or so with a cap floor of $60.2M.
Lots of work to do just to make the cap floor. |

That would be my counter.
Coronato, 2022 1st, Pelletier, Dube, Monahan for Eichel.
Give Monahan an assurance you'll trade him right away, and then trade Monahan while retaining 50%.
Still would need work to do to hit the cap floor. |

i hope so for vinnie. he is a really good dude. i don't know him personally but knew someone who grew up playing hockey with vinnie and others. he couldn't say enough good things about hinostroza as a person.
he was pretty honest about a few others in that age pool who came through the US hockey program. |

honestly don't think you are getting 5 assets for eichel. healthy? maybe but a couple of those pieces would be filler for cap space and/or roster limit space. |

Have heard from someone I trust who would know that the organization has to twist his arm to get him to do events with the kids at Roswell too. Sad if true. |

I know a guy who was a lower-level prospect who came of age around that time in the USHL (undrafted but was a USHL player).
He said he was in a camp with Zemgus Girgensons who basically blew everyone away with his skill. Really puts in perspective how talented you have to be to make the show even as a 3rd/4th liner. |

What kind of leather hat was it? Like a doo rag or a hip hop hat?
And if he was a cigar afficianado he would love the chance to talk about it. Poseur.
