Don't worry our misery might all be over soon, if we don't pony up larges sums of cash for the new Bills stadium Pegula will move the team, and then he will have to sell the Sabres because you cant own 2 pro sports teams in different cities.

Same time next time? Additionally, people need to come here to state that we should make the trade because they are getting tired of talking about it.

Sabres let Eichel get surgery to get healthy and never recovers. Now what?

I can make up wildly unlikely scenarios too

Eichel - top 5 all time buffalo talent (in both sports)

Sam - slow guy that put decent stats. Rfa status.
Needing 7-7.5 longterm to be a sabre.

Hard to not see the difference.

Also, you havnt completely put your brain around losing is winning approach.

Sam = not here , neither are his futures
Eichel = not here, neither are his "currents"

How do you know with 100% certainty the return at the deadline is better than the return we got from Florida ?

Please enlighten me.

Neither situation is "wildly unlikely". Might he have gotten a bit more if he waited until the season? Yeah, maybe a better prospect. But we would have still been aiming for a first rounder and only contenders like Florida were going to offer that up. It might not be what you'd do but I think the timing of the trade is defensible.

How do you know with 100% certainty it would be worse? Please enlighten me.

They got a conditional 1st and C prospect.

I find it sincerely hard to believe that a playoff team wouldn’t give up that package for a guy who can play center and wing during a cup run.

James lofton shouldn't be judged on his green bay years
Eichel has more talent than dale h. When he was in buffalo.
Tasker was awesome, but not eichel level of talent

Bruce
OJ
Dom
Reed
Thurman
Perrault

Lala push with eichel

Top 8-10 would be more reasonable 🤝

Good list, let's get back to eichel trade talk, it's been 3 posts

*how about that ja17 guy too

My argument today is more about the hypocrisy of defending unloading him right away despite them getting a 2022 pick (it wasn’t like it was 2021 during the draft) while simultaneously saying that they can keep a different player who also doesn’t want anything to do with the franchise because getting a good return is really important

Getting a good return for Reinhart should have also been really important.

Whatever. I just didn’t want to go over vaccines of Afghanistan today 🤷‍♀️

I don’t know with 100% certainty, that’s what happens when we are getting all caught up about hypotheticals.

We’re arguing for the sake of arguing at this point.

What I do know though is that the player does have a risk of injury by playing in 50-60 games prior to the trade deadline and would also have to be in the locker room around the core and the team deemed the return from Florida good enough to move the player and avoid the risks.

That’s all I’ve got

That's fair.

But some of that list such as lofton and hawerchuck weren't more talented when playing for buffalo.

I've been around a long time like you, eichel is as talented athletically as everyone but bruceeeeeee (IMO) and the dominator.

Little young for OJ and gils good years.
Although I was in upper golds for goal #500.
I remember him as old.... fair or not

Rhino trade is over. Was it the right choice or right time, who knows. Maybe they would have gotten more at the TDL or maybe he gets hurt and we get screwed. The Sabres are already dealing with one injury that is affecting a trade situation, why take a gamble that another one could arise.
