Love it, came in here to let my old "get off my lawn" man out and couldn't have said it better myself.
In dana carvey's grumpy old man voice- "back in my day the boards where as white as the ice and we loved it"
I will also not be attending a game in person with this stuff on a jersey. If this nonsense hurts the bottom line in other ways maybe it can then be undone. You want to prostitute your hockey club out, fine, but I don't have to buy tickets to your shenanigans.
Only way to change the owners minds is to hit them where it hurts. - JagrBombs19
You realize by doing this the NHL in turn would sell more advertising.... on jerseys........ |

The fact that they decide games with a skills competition bothers me.
The fact that they artificially prop up a failed franchise in Arizona rather than letting it fold or move bothers me.
The fact that they blather on about caring about their players safety while players like Tom Wilson get away with murder with barely a slap on the wrist bothers me.
Jersey ads? Meh, could not care less. The NHL has much bigger problems |

Vegas could make space for Eichel. Package to Sabres would be Tuch and two prospects (Rd and a center is what they need) say Korzcak and Morozov. Jack goes on LTIR has his surgery. At the trade deadline Vegas moves out Smith and activates Eichel ($10M in, $10M out). |

Personally, I'm not a big fan of ads on jersey's or helmets. I think it kind of cheapens the teams image to be honest. We already have entire arena's that are not only named after companies but are fully stocked with advertisements on every section, every jumbotron, ever road heading into them.
I understand the business side of things, but look at the KHL. They have advertisements all over the players and to me it screams "we're a cheap league"
As for Domi, I think he could fit into Ottawa for the right price, I could also see him being quite a good fit with Edmonton or Washington. But it all depends on what is wanted back for him, or is he just a cap dump |

If ads brought ticket prices down then I'd be all for it. But it won't, it'll go straight into the owners' pockets. They probably won't even use the extra revenue to increase the cap but instead keep teams like Arizona afloat. They'll do it though for sure, they already have the foot in the door with the helmets. In 10-15 years the jerseys will look like the European leagues and we'll have all gotten used to it by then. - mgriffen
They probably need to send you a copy of the CBA, so you’ll calm down and quit writing nonsense. |

Seriously, the naysayers need to get real. The logo on the front is already an ad. |

The NBA also is a much higher viewed League than the NHL, Same with the NFL, same with MLB.
Hockey is actually quite a small sport compared to others, especially around the world.
However, I don't like it for the NBA either. Any sport, I think it cheapens that teams image

How does it cheapen it? Does having adds on the boards cheapen it? What about commercials? What about the beers and food that’s advertised in the arenas (which I’m sure you take part in) does that cheapen the sport? Simple answer is NO. I mean they aren’t playing for fun right? I mean NHL owners do want to make money otherwise what’s the point of writing millions upon millions of dollars in cheques? Why would they lease an arena from a city? Just to entertain us?
You have to think logically at some point and realize this is a business and it should be run as one. |
