i would as well.....hard to judge goalies...is it the system (brodeur) or the player. - SteveRain
I'm going with Patrick Roy (slightly ahead of Hasek). Those Canadiens teams he won Cups with weren't that good. And nobody else ever won 10 straight overtime games in the playoffs. |

Roy and Hasek to me are 1a and 1b =.....Brodeur, while good, to me isn't in the convo starting over either.
Recent day? King Henrik is probably as close as it gets.....likely missing a few but he immediately stands out.
I would put Crawford, Fleury, Quick and again likely missing a few, in the next tier below. |

Never a big Henrik fan but I guess he deserves a mention at least.
Vasilevsky may wind up as one of the 10 best all time. He's a rock and Tampa can play the style they do because of him. |

A pretty good team that won 19 consecutive best of 7 series is not even mentioned? Players like Potvin, Bossy, Trottier. Maybe not generational but definitely elite as individuals and as the glue of a generational team. It took everything the Oilers had to finally knock them off. I consider the Isles among the greatest 3 or 4 NHL teams of all time. - RickJ
Damn right! They were a terrific team!!! |

Ek reporting (rumoring ?) Carolina's Svechnikov to be signing for around 70M for 8 years. That's close to 9M AAV. I'm sure Debrincat's agent likes that. - boilermaker100
Carolina is going all-in with a sneaky signing of UFA Svechnikov.... frankly I love it.

You all can take your elite players(by what I’m reading here it means put up lots of points)and I’ll take Toews, Bergeron, Datsyuk, Seabrook, Trottier, and Hossa and whip you every time. - Angotti
And....Claude Lemieux, Draper, Bourne, Nystrom, Maltby, Bolland, Kunitz....those winner are so elite!!!

Henrik was overrated, never won anything in the NHL, if I need one game takes all I’d take Rodney over him. |

The Pius Suter let him walk strategy may be one of the more astute non-signings by letting the guys here that to win we cannot go out and overpay for one year wonders.
I love to say I would take the 'cat over Carolina's Russian but, I can't - he is like a firecracker ---- he may be on IR from his big explosions into players, but I like his entire game. |

Without Connolly and Strome I wouldn't pay Suter $3M.

The City of Glendale just told the Coyotes to fly a kite. They are opting out of the lease after this season.
Any thoughts on where they end up? Quebec? Hartford? Portland? |

Anyone know why settling an arbitration case would be a prerequisite for a buyout?

With the #Red Wings settling their Arb case with Adam Erne 4 days ago, the club had access to a second buyout window.
As a result, Detroit has opted to buyout 37 year old forward Frans Nielsen.
Buyout Breakdown:
2021-22: $4,250,000
2022-23: $500,000 |

What kind of captain doesn't give up his number for the new depth defenseman??? Toews needs to go.

I'd say Portland, unless the arena is downtown. |

And what did Hull do to deserve his number being retired? |
