Don't think so.

You finally have the balance of 16 Eastern and Western Conference teams.

I think they will try to find an Arizona solution. If not, at least a western solution.

I think both parties still work a lease out. The Coyotes ownership group recently pitched a proposal to the city of Tempe around the development of a new facility. Glendale probably has no interest in renovations with this going on in the background. It'll end in a longer term lease and no new facility in the other location.

Here's something I'm curious about. Since he's going back to Michigan, does he get any salary from the Sabres at all such as signing bonuses or do those only go into effect if he's actively in Buffalo's direct system?

Comparing Buffalo to Detroit shows your ignorance.. perhaps the garbage ownership and management of your team has filtered down... Detroit is actually going thru a rebuild and won't be there for Red Wing fans lifetimes.... and management in Detroit is doing what's necessary to turn things around..... at least Wings players aren't begging to leave a horrible situation

Great question. The decision to play another year means very little in the short term or long term.

If a player plays out the full 3 years of his eligibility he does become a UFA. But he is still governed by entry level contract guidelines. So, if an elite player (eg., $8m per year) chose that route he would be giving up in the range of $25m off of his potential career earnings. No agent would encourage this choice.

On the other hand, if a player returns to college after his draft but signs and plays in the NHL during the last part of the season: he burns that first of his entry level, he can earn salary and bonus close to what he would have made had he played the full year, he remains eligible for the Calder in year 2 and he might actually have increased the potential on his career earnings.

The day he signs, his NCAA career is over.

That's very interesting. The second part is basically what Makar has done and it probably has worked out to get him a pretty decently higher total career earnings because of it. I'm actually kind of surprised we dont see more players going the college route since in the right situation, it can give high picks more power to potentially be ready to burn a year of their elc and join their team late while not losing earnings but probably gaining more in the long term if their team is in the right situation for that to play out.

Okay that makes sense. That makes it pretty straightforward then. But in that case I wonder if the new sponsorship/NCAA paid athletes rules will start to change the way guys handle the college route. Theoretically, there's really not too much other than reputation stopping a scenario similar to the one you put out there earlier.

Kansas City has an arena built and ready to go that would probably need minor upgrades

The owners of the arena in KC have repeatedly said they are not interested in having a sports team, as they make more money without one.

I was trying to be positive but was over ruled.

Haha. What a tire fire. Sitting Power this season is absolutely best for that kids development. They are the lowest Salary team in the NHL, and that is already including Skinner and Okposo who combine for 15M AAV the next two seasons. With Eichle wanting out, the worst tendy duo in the NHL, and Eakin/Middlestadt potentially being the 1/2C on this club...... Just give them Wright already. Bedard too. Buffalo fans don't deserve this kind of abuse.
