He was a healthy scratch for vast stretches to start '19-'20 due to the defenseman hoarding insanity. I think he's better than people realize and I'd be very interested to see him with Dahlin or Butcher.

The year the Lions went 0-16 they went 4-0 in the preseason.

You can definitely take away things from the preseason though but with a grain of salt forsure.

For example, the Lions with Taylor Decker, Frank Ragnow, and Penei Sewell (who looks like he is having a hard time adjusting to RT but nonetheless) have a pretty good O-Line and the Bills starting front 7 that evening held up pretty well.

Anything after that is guys fighting for spots on the 53 man roster playing each other.

If analytics were around in the early 2000’s as they are today, does Datsyuk get more love as quite possibly being the best player in the world ?

new year, fresh start...gonna be interesting to see how meatballs uses him...if i remember correctly, miller was playing third-pairing minutes with no. 1 pp time in vegas when they traded for him...he'd been tried up-top as a fill-in for the injured nate schmidt but fell down the lineup to that bottom-pairing spot

He did a 2018 redraft today and had Hughes going #1 to Buffalo over both Svechnikov and Dahlin.

They do have a credible blue line, especially if 26 makes a leap in 21-22. If they get solid goaltending they could threaten to not be in last place.

He had positive shot share results and was amongst the leagues best in assists by a d-man once Granato took over.

He may never reach his ceiling as the McDavid of d-men but to say he won’t be a top pairing guy is false.

Shouldn’t negate what he did the first two seasons and the sample size under Granato.

There is reason for concern but he’ll be fine as long as they let him play his game.

Worse case scenario for Dahlin is Morgan Reilly.
