when he did the jagr salute - picklerick
Still one of my fav games ever as a fan. I watched that WC at a BDubs with a friend who is a huge Flyers fan. Anyway the look on his face that changed from when the Rangers came back and the whole Jagr salute thing, always be etched in my memory
I'm betting that this was forced upon him by the Insurance Companies refusing to insure him if he played again. Just like every other player who has suffered a cardiac episode.
Nevertheless, a great HOF career from a player who embodied what it is to be a Ranger...Good Luck to you in the future Hank

I could be wrong, but it seems unlikely. I mean he's made ballpark around $105 Million Dollars in his career so he's got plenty of money. He doesn't need to carry personal life insurance. Any NHL player contract would be for relatively small amount at this point so I'm not sure why a team (or Hank) would need it insured.
Winning the cup is so damn hard. From 2012 to 2015 it’s just such a shame for all of us they couldn’t get over the hurdle but there was some incredible moments along the way.
i think they did all they could to put the best team around him starting in 2011. But they did a very poor job of it from 2006-2011. Some of those defensemen were atrocious. Top pair of Malik and Roszival. Signing Redden. Oooofa.
Hank was incredible those years and they often get forgotten.
I thought he slowed down a bit by the 2015 Tampa series. Some kinks in the armor showed there and then his last moment of greatness was the first round vs Montreal in 2017.
Should have won more than one Vezina. It’s ridiculous he didn’t win in 2013 IMO.
And was the best goalie in 2007, 2008 and 2011 I don’t care what the stats say. - jimbro83

In fairness to Rozsival he was tied for the league lead with Wayne Redden in the
plus/minus stat in 2005-2006! Marik Malik was tied with Marty St. Louis for the league lead in the year before that. They all played for the Rangers. Rosival also won two Cups on the blue line with the Chicago Blackhawks.
Just a thought but maybe they should try and schedule the retirement for when Carolina is in town. That team is loaded with Hank’s former teammates Including Fast and Stepan. - jimbro83

Malik and Rosival were always on with Jagr. Their +/- were just a bit inflated by his presence
