Firing people seems like it's a lot more fun than it actually is. Truth is it is easily the pooptiest part of any job that has potential firing as a role...unless you're a heartless PoS...despite the joyous thoughts removing person X would provide. I try to leave it as the absolute last resort - Takemedrunkimhome
The place of used to work at during the summer would never fire anyone. A guy just flat out didn't come in for 4 weeks and just showed up one day and was asked not to do that again.

And in that situation I'd try to get him to walk away on his own before resorting to firing him

Oh I know...I just "HAD" to fire somebody last week and it's really sticking with me - Takemedrunkimhome
i used to supervise an AP department and this one girl was just constantly late. she just seemed to think it was okay. then her work started getting a little sloppy. i took her and 2 of her friends out to the city and we got sloppy drunk and had a great time. i let her know during the evening's festivities that she had to straighten up at work. she ended up sleeping over and was a fine employee after that.
