daycare changed their hours so I can't get to work on time, one kid came off contact tracing and the other one entered at the exact same time, one kid puked in my bed friday night, other kid has niagara falls boogers.
(frank)in great bud.
They're all relatively healthy though, so hey. We good. How's that shoulder.

Maybe get Butcher on the third pair with Pysyk. That could be pretty interesting.

Nice job Hank, think this was a good move by Adams. Butcher will fit in nicely in Granato's system.
That's why I would not be against a trade with Anaheim that has Drysdale as the main piece, we need a stud on the Right side, he would fit nicely. Calgary would be a little different Valimaki would allow you to drop Butcher to 3LD, but Pelletier would need to be atleast another piece in that deal.
Anaheim: Eichel
Buffalo: Drysdale Comtois Perreault Henrique 2022 top5 protected first rolls to 23 - Buff36
Good plan. Butcher is most well suited to that spot and Butcher/Pysyk would be a completely reasonable 3rd pairing. McCabe-Miller would have been a good 2nd pair imo but I won't cry about that anymore
Do your plan, get a goalie and this team would be decent |

I think it would be Power-Drysdale
as both Dahlin and Drysdale are more offensive - DirtyDan
Power isn't a defensive defenseman either. |

I was hoping you'd drop by and give the inside scoop. It's interesting that his offense was better while playing 3rd pair minutes his rookie year vs borderline first pairing minutes. - Hank Balling
During this past season when he was in the line up due to injuries he did jump into the play more and seemed a little more noticeable offensively but after his rookie season when he came in with a bang he seemed to try to do too much and tried to make plays that weren't there and that meant he was caught out of position too often and even when he was set up on the defensive zone there would be lapses
He may put up numbers just due to volume but teams picked up in the second year what he was going to do next and while he was still effective offensively, just not as effective, it was somewhat concerning
When a team like the devil's who struggle to score take someone out of the line up that creates offense then there are some red flags
He isn't a bad or terrible player but needs to be sheltered |

Dahlin and Drys would be a very offensive combo... I'd just rather have Dahlin with a more defensive guy cause he was stinky in his own end last year... idk maybe he gets better without having to think so much |

Another fun doodad.
Full season of 20-21, Sabres defense (didn't include McCabe)
total xGAR is -3.1. Risto was -10.3, Irwin was -2.3 and Montour was -2.9. Monty went to FLA and put up a 4.4. He didn't have much time under Donny to turn that around.
xSPAR, Risto was -3.4 and everyone else was at least -1 or better.
Total standings, the defense gained 0.4 standings points. |

The Sabres need bodies and to occasionally force people to play for us (trade).
So, to effectively get a 1 year UFA and a 5th round pick, and to simultaneously not give a rat's behind how good they are.
Mission Accomplished

Training people can be more annoying than the work itself. At least it is for the position I need to train. Of course, that can vary per job. I hope your training is easier than mine. The position below me takes months. I spent 6 months on a guy and he quit (lol). Frustrating.

True
I still don't understand why salary was retained other than for a hopeful TDL trade
But considering that the devil's don't get much for him and there wasn't much interest, unless he really performs I don't see him getting much |

I'm not sure who we will know if he did or didn't.
If he gets a return from Anaheim that doesn't include Zegras or Drysdale, we shouldn't assume he overplayed his hand, as maybe that return was never available. |

That's all true, but if the Sabres can even get another 5th round pick at the trade deadline, for a player that helps them get to the cap floor in a nothing season, that's 2 lottery tickets, and there's nothing wrong with that, especially compared to their history under Botterill and Murray when they were constantly dealing picks away. |

We could just keep him. - kritter65
1. They're unofficially separated at this point. The only way forward is signing the papers.
2. Yeah you could keep him. Let a franchise asset rot at his house, without a solution to his surgery. You kill his value, he resents the franchise and it makes the Sabres look bad for not taking care of their assets. And that comes in the form of either giving the player the surgery he wants or sending to a team that will.
3. There's much more private information that we simply don't know. We don't know who's willing to give up what, and who's willing to let him have his preferred surgery. Sounds like it's replacement or bust. The Sabres have to change their mind, or they have to come to a written agreement with another team that says we'll trade this package for him if he comes back healthy from that specific surgery. Brings you back to the gamble the Sabres don't want to take.
4. The complication of the money and players itself is already a challenge. You've already got a full roster without Jack. It probably needs to be a three way trade to shuffle vets or guys the Sabres don't want to grow with.

Puts a mil back in Terry's pocket. Allows Buffalo to take on a million more of someone else's problem. Allows Buffalo to hold 50% at the TDL, in turn saves 500k for a team who may need every penny. The Devils were clearly desperate to shed him and the Sabres took advantage of it.
