Gotta think dahlin currently brings in more return than jackie. (Currently)
If eichel gets healthy, eichel is worth more IMO.
Once we won the lottery.....
Gotta think it crossed some minds....
Paying 2 defenseman 8+ in a few years....

He did his rookie year too when the Flyers tried to go after him. Cross checked Giroux (?) right in the mouth.

Sometimes the best outcome is the opposite of your hopes.
Many Buffalo fans are hostile to the idea of moving Eichel to the Rangers. I think it actually might work really well.
Eichel is injured. No guarantees that he will fully recover. More important he is a bonafide loser. The world is filled with Joe Thornton type players, guys who are elite individual talents. They perform exceptionally well at the individual level yet they are incapable of leading their teams to championship levels. Sabre fans fear Eichel might make the the Rangers into a contender in the competitive East. Maybe he helps them accelerate their dive into dud territory.
I see Eichel situation similar to the lead up to Ottawa dealing an injured Karlsson to San Jose. Everyone was certain Ottawa would get a significantly discounted return. When the deal was finally announced everyone immediately claimed that San Jose had gotten a superstar for a bargain discount.
Today we know Karlsson turned out to be the dog too hurt to hunt anymore. The multiple return to the Sens has been truly transformative including the likelihood of 2 top 6 forwards and a future elite goaltender.
But, the part of the story that is so important is just how destructive the deal has been to San Jose at so many levels. They have destroyed their cap situation, they hollowed out their prospect pool and they gave up elite draft picks.
Would be happy to see Sabres do it to the Rangers. |

Good post. There are some pretty big differences between Karlsson and Eichel. Karlsson was already in his late 20's and in need of a contract within a year. His play had already dipped and his body was already breaking down. There is every reason to think that Eichel is entering his prime.

It was a classic Risto shift:
Give up chance, take penalty, look tuff
Never change, Risto. Never change.

Risto is useless - 13th overall pick, 2nd and player
"Because of his position "
Sam was great - future protected 1st and 7th round goalie. "Because of his position "
All the sudden guys that play center and rw get less, because of position
😀😀😀😀

I dont feel like arguing about Risto today, Boss.
Besides, that's beyond my purview as Sabres blogger
Perhaps broads will come out and play though |
