Hains: Looking Ahead: Jonathan Drouin
Last offseason, I did another Looking Ahead entry for Jonathan Drouin in which I rationalized his points output based on what he earned, this time around, the conversation will be different. |

Good blog as usual Karine
We might never really know what pushed Drouin to take an indefinite leave of absence from the Canadiens last season, but what we do know now is that according to Marc Bergevin, he’s doing much better, and he will be at camp like everyone else.
not that he HAS to talk about everything in detail, but surely he'll address the media about it, right? it would be kind of awkward to just start the season and pretend like nothing happened |

At the same point, when did we become so entitled that we expect to be told what happened? |

you can't catch covid on a private plane to ottawa, but you can to winnipeg - mr.peanut
I think the point was they wanted to travel to fewer cities, so they went with Toronto and Ottawa because they were the closest |

I think you're misreading what I said, he doesn't have to give all the details, but he could acknowledge it. as a professional athlete I don't think it's too much to ask. |

oh, but it's gonna be fine for the regular season? ok I guess it kinda makes sense lol... Have they announced anything about the number of fans allowed at the bell? I think they lifted the "state of emergency" for MTL recently - Pat1993
It's really for private contracts only. Capacity will still be dictated by our führer in Quebec City |

Time to move on. MB purposely went out and got assets that make Drouin redundant.
If they get something for him, good. If not, at least they get cap space. |

Apologies, I didn't mean you, when I say "we" I meant fans as a whole. My point is if he didn't want to address it, that should be fine. It wouldn't be but it should |

meh, if he really doesn't want to talk about it then he could simply say so and move on. it would be less awkward then just avoiding it completely, imho. |

well that's what i'm going for. but it's also ridiculous for a provincial leader to stifle political debate towards his decrees |

For his sake, hope he has it all figured out.
Otherwise, his personal poop is his own thing to deal with... Don't want or care to know. And neither should we. On any level, quite frankly.

oh I agree, no one should be obligated to talk publicly about a personal issue, professional athlete or not. |

yeah I wasn't against most of the measures in place (although I'm on the fence about the passport), but I agree the way they were implemented could have been different. still, wearing the star of David to protest against these measures is so (frank)ing dumb, and it completely removes any credibility the protesters might have had. |

I think he may worry that his issue(s) could be used against him if he struggles as well. |

and that's totally understandable, especially considering the heavy criticism he was already facing. |

As a historian, and GREAT person, i hated it too. But it also lets us know who we should ignore.
My point is that keeping emergency powers without an end date then refusing to debate an inherent public goods because there may be criticism is moving away from the democratic process |
