Your opinion, which I respect ...

Risto is a bad player

My opinion as well as the Philadelphia flyers opinion is,
He's a good player worth a 13thOA, a 2nd and an nhl player. Other teams were offering 1st + for risto.

You like sam
I do not like sam

Sam playing a different position, did not receive anywhere near the same compensation.
He finally showed the ability to play 1C and rw.
In the division
The league has spoken as to the players value.

What gives?
At what point do you admit you under valued risto?
Obviously at no point will you admit you overvalued sam.

Same gm same week both players were traded.
Kinda seems like you are wrong .... IMO

- Boss34

This isn't about value, Boss. This is about ability. And Risto's ability stinks.

You're ignoring the market value of the positions, so I won't bother going down that hole again. But Duncan Keith, Seth Jones and Rasmus Ristolainen all returned massive value to the teams trading them away, where Pavel Buchnevich and Sam Reinhart did not. Sometimes certain types of assets are worth more than others. That's how a market works. Just because you pay $20 for tripe and $10 for ribeye doesn't mean the tripe is "better". It's just valued more.

I was wrong about the value Ristolainen had to Chuck Fletcher. I am not wrong about what Ristolainen brings to his team. Which is power play ability, physicality, and poor defense.

Pegsville- I would like a little wager on under 70 points for Samson in Florida this season.

They may use him as 2C

Safe to say sam gets 24 goals 36 assists.

I realize sam's underlying numbers point to him being somewhat equally with or without Jack, but my 👀, see it much different. Seems like a lot of bonus points, pass the puck to eichel and have him do it himself.....

I'd like some action on goaloffson too.
Bet he puts up 25/55 points with a team that's trying to lose, without their #1 center.

Olo +10 points over samson 🤔

- Boss34

I’ll take any bet you want Oloffson does not put score Sam by 10 points.

If they trade Risto for Ehlers and keep ROR are Eichel and Reinhart still Buffalo Sabres today and in the future ?

Is Isak Rosen worth more than all of that ?

- Pegullaville

Why bother with the what if game.

What if Dom plays. What if Drury stays. What if they both stay. What if Jay McKee is healthy. What if Connolly doesn't get that hit. What are we doin here.

That's really unfair and doesn't make sense.

Taco77 or tacoville type one sided statement

When guys get drafted , is it based on ability or value?

Mostly ability and a little value as well.

Trading draft capital for someone definitely equates to perceived ability.

Risto's ability is 13thoa, a 2nd and an nhl player
Sam perceived ability is a future 1st and 7th round goalie

Can we move on, I'm not going to convince you that risto was good, and your not going to convince me he was worthless. Especially after the excellent return.
The traded value of said players leans to me being correct.

you might want to protect yourself against injury and make it a per game basis.

Again, excellent post and I do understand supply and demand.

Seth jones and Duncan keith are really good hockey player
Buch not really so much...
Sample size is too SMALL 🙂

I'll let you get the last word in, but didnt someone post that 7 teams offered 1st rounders for risto?

All we could drum up for sam was future's in the divison.

I rest my case.

I also wouldn’t pay $5 for Sabres season tickets right now and you got several seats in the place.

Value is in the eye of the beholder.

Price and fundamentals disengage frequently.

Just because I wouldn’t pay $5 for Sabres season tickets right now doesn’t mean at a different point in time I wouldn’t pay much more than that.

Market place dynamics play a huge role in valuations. There was a limited supply of RHD on the trade market/UFA, it inflated the price.

There are a lack of sellers in the Canadian housing market right now, leading to an increase of price.

Value can be derived from multiple factors, price paid and future value are not mutually exclusive

Was this rumor ever confirmed? Do you have a citation from a reliable source that it was turned down? I have read this on here by posters but I don't know if a reliable trade insider ever mentioned it. Anyway it never happened and it was during two GM's ago anyway and that was a good player to turn down, Ehlers, for such a terrible defenseman and I have no idea who comes and who goes and Ehlers would have been the be all to everything wrong with the Sabres.

Sam -15

They were picked 179 picks apart, same draft.

Sam just went to a STACKED team, olo missing his #1 c , and on a team trying to loooose.

55 for olo
Under 70 for sam IMO.

no consideration for injuries, trades ect.

Idk if you consider him a reliable insider but Bulldog said he was told it was a done deal but the Sabres didn't want to part with an additional 3rd or 4th round pick to do it

A mid rounder would be so inconsequential for either Winnipeg or Buffalo to balk at a deal that size

I remember it being Asplund but could be wrong

Pegsville, another solid post.

Current value not future value.
Same week, same gm , 1 guy recieved more value.

Position plays a part, yes
But 1C's or 2C's do not grow on trees....(sam)

Look how difficult finding a 2c has been

I think we would all have traded risto for a 70-75 point 2 center right?

As for the ticket's, its about the future. I have incredible seats, the demand will be brutal.

As soon as the Sabres are good, the sky's the limit.

I can sell my $30 seats for $5 now.. a $25 loss
When we actually have a good team - $75 - a $45 profit
Or much much more..... can only go back $30...

It's the stock market and my rights are at an all time low.

I'll bring you and 6 other posters to a game in 2022 if /when I continue with my 8 seats together.

Also, my wife has given me a hard time about my Bill's season ticket for the past 10+ years. They suck....

Guess who's selling the opening game 3 tickets for $1,000. Same guy who brought his son to the Baltimore playoff game....

*I wouldn't be chosing between my sons education and sabres tickets fyi. When you get older, you have a little extra money to throw away....

My example of Sabres’ season tickets probably wasn’t the best example to use but something I thought of off the top of my head.

I actually think you are smart to keep the season tickets for the reasons you stated.

My post was not meant to be a defamation of character just a poor metaphor on my part.

You are obviously doing something right in life to have the discretionary income to support the local sports teams so for that I say kudos to you.

Do you think maybe a trade involving a Canadian city and decent player and good player like Risto would make the TSN and/or Sportsnet rounds if it was legit? That their agents, other GM's would leak it to people like Elliott Friedman, and others if it was legit and not Bulldog unless maybe Bulldog was getting hammered with GMTM or something but still it would have been a story, the rumor and not just Bulldogs only rumor of his life.
