Bunch never had more than 50 points in a season. Hoffman is a better scorer than saad. Not sure what you are looking at. - Peter Richards
I'm not at all surprised that you're not sure what I'm looking at. Buchnevich put up 48 points last year in 54 games. He has been building as a player and has the real potential to be a point per game player.
Last year 20/21 Total Pts/60 G/60 A/60
Hoffman 1.05 .48 .57
Saad 2.29 1.49 .8
This is at 5 on 5. Hoffman has the clear advantage on the PP. The point is that St. Louis has effectively replaced what they lost. |

The structure? Coots is heavily signing bonus driven? I don’t see they can be that much different besides the movement clauses and bonus/salary setup . Clause wise doesn’t matter much, neither guy is getting traded in the next 5 years at least - ClaudeFather
Signing bonus money is completely buyout proof.
You basically said I don't see that they can be that much different besides what's different. |

I think the dust has settled, CF is done, unless a surprise comes or a minor move. I see where Coots said that all new players have been incorporated into group texts, that he is excited and guys like Risto are excited, adding Coots is happy to not play against Risto any longer...
Good or bad bring on the season...

Coots is the glue that will keep the team together. Obviously not a 100 point threat....in order for the Flyers to really challenge one of the youngsters at forward has to blossom. Is Foerster, Frost, or Farabee capable? God I hope so. - DANCER

And this is just looking at scoring rates. Advanced metrics generally don’t drive contract negotiations, but they absolutely are a solid measurement of on-ice value. Let’s just say that over the past five seasons, Couturier’s even strength impact on his teammates has been through the roof — at least per Evolving-Hockey’s RAPM model, higher than where any of his comparables stood in the five seasons preceding their big contracts.
Stone and Bergeron’s numbers were absolutely fantastic — and Couturier’s are even better. But it’s not even just the top-tier comparables. Couturier’s play-driving impact dwarfs that of players like Ryan Kesler and Matt Duchene — who both received more than Couturier did (in Kesler’s case, post-inflation adjustment). That’s in addition to scoring more than both of them, too.
Yeah, in terms of market comparables, the Couturier contract is a favorable one for the Flyers, to say the least.
By advanced metrics, Couturier is a flat-out stud. Over the past three seasons, he ranks 10th among all NHL skaters in Goals Above Replacement; over the past five, he’s fifth. Only Connor McDavid, Brad Marchand, Mark Stone and Brayden Point grade out better — that’s illustrious company.
But Couturier isn’t just a billboard for the importance of advanced metrics. There aren’t many forwards in hockey who have been as consistently productive on the scoresheet as Couturier. In fact, only 16 forwards over the last four seasons have paced for at least 26 goals and 70 points in each of those years: McDavid, Marchand, Stone, Alex Ovechkin, Artemi Panarin, Auston Matthews, David Pastrnak, John Tavares, Leon Draisaitl, Mark Scheifele, Mikko Rantanen, Nathan MacKinnon, Patrice Bergeron, Sidney Crosby, Steven Stamkos … and Couturier.
It’s basically a who’s who of the best forwards in the NHL and Couturier is right there with them — even in scoring, which isn’t even the most impressive part of his game.
Coots is criminally under rated by some of the fan base. He is an elite center in every way, and we just got him for a team friendly rate because he is a team first guy. |

So you've gone from "looks like Giroux might be a goner after the season if not at the trade deadline(if they are out of contention at that time)" to we shall see how things go this season. - MJL Stop putting words in my mouth! I still think there is a good chance that he is a GONER!! He's going to have to take a hometown discount as the Flyers don't have lots of room with cap space. I was just trying not to be argumentive as you always are. Thanks!! |

With how everything worked I wouldn’t use last year as a precursor. We shall see if he plays to star level with St. Louis. Hoffman has just put up better numbers than saad. Not that saad is a bad player but he is not the player he was when with toews. |

There is Zero chance he is a goner.
They are simply waiting until the next offseason to see what the cap situation looks like and Giroux will sign a deal that works for both sides.
That is pretty obvious. |

Why not? Last year was a difficult time, yet Buchnevich put up strong scoring totals. It should be more of precursor based on how things were. The only scoring advantage Hoffman has over Saad is on the PP. Saad didn't get much time on the PP in Colorado. I bet that changes in St. Louis.

Buchnevich played very little with Panarin at 5 on 5. Don't all good offensive players play with good linemates?
