Coots is criminally under rated by some of the fan base. He is an elite center in every way, and we just got him for a team friendly rate because he is a team first guy. - MBFlyerfan
Where is PT21 to see that? Remember, only his ranking on NHL.com matters.
I’m with you, I also think with all these new faces it drives competition within the team. There’s a lot of guys that can play, if you don’t bring your best stuff you could end up in the press box. - ClaudeFather
And that is exactly how a truly competitive team should be! Earn every damn minute that you're given if you don't want to commit to the compete game then watch from the press box.
There is no way that having everyone compete for spots is ever a bad thing. Not ever. And the players know that. Chuck has sent the message
Coots is the glue that will keep the team together. Obviously not a 100 point threat....in order for the Flyers to really challenge one of the youngsters at forward has to blossom. Is Foerster, Frost, or Farabee capable? God I hope so. - DANCER

Sean Couturier is that two way center every team needs to win. He does his job every night. My issue is, I can’t really think of a clutch Couturier moment in his career. Coots should be on par or close to Patrice Bergeron but Bergeron has numerous clutch moments. Multiple big goals. The Bruins begin and end with that top line of Bergeron and Marchand.
Nice a comment on the Flyers, not a bunch of nonsense about comparing a bunch of people from other teams!! Good for you! - konalover711
I am here to talk flyers hockey and just hockey in general. I try not to get caught up in the pissing contests and negativity on here
I am very excited for this team and for the attitude I feel that this time now has.
We may finally get to see this team have an Identity! How long has it been since they had one?
Why not? Last year was a difficult time, yet Buchnevich put up strong scoring totals. It should be more of precursor based on how things were. The only scoring advantage Hoffman has over Saad is on the PP. Saad didn't get much time on the PP in Colorado. I bet that changes in St. Louis. - MJL
This has to be the absolutely dumbest and most Moronic batch of bantering amongst people who think they are some sort of Hockey minds. Saad Hoffman st louis some other a$$holes on other teams....
Comments here about "our" team are mostly ridiculous to start but PHUCK, discussing players from other teams WOW!!
FWIW...You are all just a bunch of sad wanna be front office buttlickers, you all are just some keyboard cowboys who think you're just brilliant....Get a grip. - konalover711
They are simply waiting until the next offseason to see what the cap situation looks like and Giroux will sign a deal that works for both sides.
That is pretty obvious. - MBFlyerfan
I don't see it that way. Sorry bout that! This is a business and it will be Giroux's last contract. In no way do I see it as a guarantee that he will be back next year. Hell, if this season goes up in smoke and they are out of playoff contention at the deadline he could be traded then. Of course, he could always come back after that, but we shall see. They are going to have very limited cap space from the looks of things unless they can unload a big contract(JVR?) and there is no avoiding that fact.

Who can forget this beautiful not clutch moment:
Also this totally wasn't clutch:
And neither was this:
Definitely not this:

Oh I stand corrected. Look at all the Stanley Cup playoff game winners in overtime you found. I can’t believe I forgot about all the Stanley Cup Finals we’ve contended for in recent years.
Shootout winner against New Jersey. That’s what you brought to the table.

He once scored a hat trick and 5 pts on a torn MCL to keep the Flyers alive in a series vs the Pens.
Couturier is 28 now and will turn 29 during the upcoming season. He will not turn 30 until December of the 22/23 season. That will make him 37 during the final year of his new contract. Not 36 and not 38. - MJL
His contract runs through the 2030-2031 season no? On 12/3/2030 which bday will coots be celebrating? Assuming he was born in 1992 wouldn’t that be his 38th bday ?or are my tears mixed up?
Was he born 12/3/1992????
Does his contract run through the 2030-2031 season ????
Boston doesn't seem to be crying Bergeron will be 37 when his ends and they will probably resign him next year. Coots plays a similar game and while offensive production may dip over time, his elite level to defend will not.
This may be the best thing CF did this offseason and I have been overall very happy with all of his moves.
If next summer he gives Braun and part of Yandle's money to Risto to keep him and then signs G to a team friendly 4.75-5M he has done his best to put a very good team on the ice...As Coots said, it is now time for the team to perform.
For me, one hidden gem in the moves is getting Cam A. I think he will be very helpful to TK's development...I think that is a new bromance... - JW98FlyerFan
Love the Bergy comparison as it’s completely stupid..
How many players have won 1 selke trophy? A lot is the answer…
How many have won 4? NOT MANY IS THE ANSWER
Coots is not elite defensively he’s very very good. Bergy is elite
I think Couturier is the teams most valuable player at this point and I love the signing. However I would have preferred a six year deal taking him to age 36. I hope it works out but the guy will have played a lot of hockey by then and nobody knows for sure if he will be the same player he is now. I highly doubt it but still happy, its not my money and he is a special guy. I used to think he was never going to escape that checking role but Hakstol, the guy i hated gets credit for moving him to line one and G to lw. Got to give credit where it is due and Hakstol nailed this one, the only thing he nailed in his whole losing career in Philly.

If you had tried to sign him to a 6 year deal than the cap hit goes up to the 9M range.
