Because that was part of the deal, the $6.1M and the QO was to scare off the Habs, but the Canes and Kotkaniemi have another plan in place. Now he gets to play with about four of his countrymen. We shall see.

Okay I got it figured out.

Strome to Montreal for Drouin and a prospect as a sweetener to take on Drouin cap hit. Prospect either Poehling or Primeau. If Primeau send them Subban.

Bergevin then sends the Carolina 1st and 3rd to Arizona and some player making about 2M for Dvorak.

Montreal gets 2 centers making 7.5M or only 1.5M more than the KK offer sheet. Since they unloaded 7.5M in salary they are cap neutral.

Stan gets Drouin and either a C or G prospect and 2.5M additional cap hit which he'll have to do something about.

I’d do that for Primeau but not Poehling. Primeau is Montreal’s goalie of the future, they’d want/need a better goalie in return than Subban.

Yeah, his playoff benchings and the fact that those Finns is his friends, he wanted out of Montreal and that fat undeserved retribution contract MUST be tied to a long term "understanding" or else this kid gets more $6.1 in a re-sign, and I dont think he will play to a six minilli0on level for a while, if ever...

Exactly, Carolina will end up with a better deal when it’s all said and done, maybe for four to five years somewhere between $3-4M AAV, all for a late first and a late third, book it. Montreal is stuck between a rock and a hard place, match and it will cost them $12.8M for two years for a player that has not hit prime time yet.
