Seems like you're suggesting it's just Jack who backs down: has a surgery he doesn't want and plays for a team he doesn't want to play for. - Lunaion
If he has a strong case for the surgery he wants then he can present that at medical arbitration and then live by the ruling.
He signed a contract governed by the CBA and is entitled to that avenue of dispute resolution |

I tired to be nice and let people be adults, but I guess I can't do that. Bans will be coming fast and furious until the hint is taken. |

I'm not really sure what McCabe brings to the Sabres, maybe he didnt want to extend? Maybe they offered him some decent $ and McCabe said no?
Why would he want to stay? The losing has been continuous since he joined the Sabres.
Homie has mentioned McCabe and Chicago for along while now. Would you stay in buffalo over Chicago?
As for ullmark, I'm not sure if he proved anything to warrant a long term deal under kagm. He probably wanted to take a look this season, unfortunately he got hurt.
The season before, KA was manager of the harbor center.
All new scouts .... I've got plenty of excuses.
* I think chicago is an outside team for eichel.
McCabe and eichel were pretty close friends here in the b-lo.
Dach and a 2021 (1st) 2022 (1st) cap dump or sabres retain on eichel - Boss34
This isn't really where I'm going with this. Ullmark and McCabe both hit UFA at 27, when their contracts ended. Letting that happen is a mistake by the team. They didn't buy a single UFA year from either on their deals.
They are just 2 of many.

Honestly, this is the right thing to do. But I'll miss the anger !
I don't mind the fighting and name-calling during "political-talk", or the bashing of members here. Makes me feel ALIVE during this awful stretch of being a Buffalo sports fan. And as someone else said recently, it's better than endlessly talking about Eichel and the Sabres. Maybe when (if ?) we're ever good again, I'll start caring about the team again. Right now, they're a joke and I'm sick of the futile "what can we do to improve this team" talk that's been going on for YEARS. So, I enjoyed the fighting and name-calling. At least it was fun to read. I really don't care what line combos we can scramble together. Until the team has actual decent talent and shows vast improvement, I'm just done caring.

I get the team's side of this. You seemed to be suggesting some kind of compromise, then outlined Jack caving on everything.

If Ullmark didn't prove anything to warrant a long term deal, then why did Adams hold on to him at the trade deadline and then try and get a deal done with Ullmark before he officially became a UFA? |

If the Habs don’t match that’s another first round pick Montreal will have…just a thought
But I think Calgary is in the mix as well |

So, this is why you don't see offer sheets. The fact that Tom Dondon is so god damn petty that he wants to pay a guy worth Casey Mittelstadt the amount of money that Dylan Larkin makes (cap) just so he can rub Bergy's face into his own poop is just ridiculous. And funny. Someone's going to need to pay him a stupid amount of money, and or Carolina has to lose a 1st round pick and a third to pay him like a true 2C. The asset management is gross.

Decided not to spend the summer ranting about this team, but 2 penny pinching 1 year deals to make him a UFA followed by signing 2 lack luster fillers and talking about rushing UPL on a terrible team gets me going.
This passes as a plan?

Of course not, but it was all Ralph, Adams wasn't really the GM yet, he was only an apprentice, etc., etc., etc.
Lots of excuses to get to Adams being absolved of blame. |

So you would have paid him $6 million a year?
Yeah, no thanks. |

We have come in dead last place 4 out of the last 8 years. McCabe for most of it and ullmark for part of it.
I think your overstating value. This team sucked.
Neither of those guys proved to me anything close to be consistent. Long term, big buffatax type contracts.
So the rookie gm should have come in last year and extended 2 injury prone players without observing their work habits or nature? These non signings are not on kagm ..... non trades too at the tdl of injured players either.
I agree with you , the team as a group of gm's has been a mess. |

Why was the bold the only option?
Of course I wouldn't have signed him to over $5M per, however, I would've tried to sign to him to a deal with term in the 19-20 offseason instead of going with a one year deal, and if he wasn't interested, I would've traded him.
I would not have signed him to a pair of one year deals, walking him right to UFA status. That's terrible asset management.
I would've taken the same approach last offseason. |
