So you would have paid him $6 million a year?
Yeah, no thanks. - Powerslave
The point here is that they could have signed him to a 3-4 year deal a year or 2 ago. Price tag would probably have been 3.5-4m. They wanted him to be their starter, but wouldn't make an actual commitment. They practically pushed him out the door, then tried to extend him just as he was walking out.

We have come in dead last place 4 out of the last 8 years. McCabe for most of it and ullmark for part of it.
I think your overstating value. This team sucked.
Neither of those guys proved to me anything close to be consistent. Long term, big buffatax type contracts.
So the rookie gm should have come in last year and extended 2 injury prone players without observing their work habits or nature? These non signings are not on kagm ..... non trades too at the tdl of injured players either.
I agree with you , the team as a group of gm's has been a mess. - Boss34
It's Adams job to find out if Ullmark would sign a long term (let's say 4 years) last offseason, and if Ullmark wasn't interested or the dollars/term was too much, they should've traded him then, and not waited to lose him for nothing while still trying to sign him. |

It's not dissimilar from how they handled Reinhart, i.e. backhand commitments.
After Ullmark and Reinhart realized how the organization thought of them, the Sabres tried to reach out to them to say we really do love you as a player. No, really we do. Wait, why don't you want to sign the long term deal we offered you? You don't believe us? |

If Ullmark didn't prove anything to warrant a long term deal, then why did Adams hold on to him at the trade deadline and then try and get a deal done with Ullmark before he officially became a UFA? - kingcong39
3 things
I was speaking for myself in regards to proving his value.
My opinion, I liked ullmark but, you can't pay overpay guys to stay in buffalo that get hurt frequently.
Maybe KA didnt get the right offer and was looking to move ullmark
Do we really know what numbers were thrown around ? Why would they sign ullmark to get blasted this season and steal a few points. You don't sign good goalies ,if your trying to win. You've seen this show before.
Arizona signs hutton, we counter with the oldest dude in the league. 1 of the 3 oldest , it got confusing ☝️

If the Habs don’t match that’s another first round pick Montreal will have…just a thought
But I think Calgary is in the mix as well - Stripes77
Can they sign and trade jasperi at 6.1 million?
Can they extend that offer and what will his free agency status be?

So, this is why you don't see offer sheets. The fact that Tom Dondon is so god damn petty that he wants to pay a guy worth Casey Mittelstadt the amount of money that Dylan Larkin makes (cap) just so he can rub Bergy's face into his own poop is just ridiculous. And funny. Someone's going to need to pay him a stupid amount of money, and or Carolina has to lose a 1st round pick and a third to pay him like a true 2C. The asset management is gross. - TheSabresTaco
Maybe they see the same thing I see in jasperi?
I got hassled for suggesting jasperi be a big part of the eichel trade.
You don't make this move unless Carolina is ready to pay him ☝️ |

Why was the bold the only option?
Of course I wouldn't have signed him to over $5M per, however, I would've tried to sign to him to a deal with term in the 19-20 offseason instead of going with a one year deal, and if he wasn't interested, I would've traded him.
I would not have signed him to a pair of one year deals, walking him right to UFA status. That's terrible asset management.
I would've taken the same approach last offseason. - kingcong39
Meh.
The guy is always hurt and didn't really establish himself as a bona-fide starter to warrant anything more than one year deals.

We don't really have to guess at their value now. Chi and Bos clearly stated it.
When you look at the roster KA inherited and the roster now, I find it very hard to defend KA. He flat out squandered a lot of value.

don't the sabres employ the doctor who pioneered the replacement surgery? - Michael Pachla
Don't believe this is a true statement. The device being discussed was designed out of France then was brought over to the US.

Hypothetically there was a trade to be made.
If someone offered a 3rd and the deadline, maybe you roll the dice.... hopefully he signs here. If that's really the plan.
You guys are hilarious, all serious about winning next season.

If replacement fails, there is a chance of the dislodged disc interfering with the spinal cord and causing paralysis. Which the the biggest fear in a professional athlete in a contact sport. - Gr8daygo
Not normally the case. It could subside and cause issues, but shifting all the way to the spinal cord is very unlikely. The device would probably fail before actually moving. |

The team KA inherited should not be tanking this year.
McCabe and Ullmark just come up as good, mid-salary range players, that we now have 0 of. They botched the top end even worse. |

The Sabres have had a bunch of different managers with different ideas on how to build a successful team. 0 continuity
Each new management team wants to see personnel 1st hand. We switch every 2 years. Why are you not seeing this?

So then trade him and move on to finding a more preferred goaltender to invest in for multiple years, instead of (frank)ing around with little to no plan, like they always do. |

Wouldn't an actually quality GM have a plan of action that involves something more immediate then I need a year to see all the players up close before deciding on anything?
I'd sure as hell hope so. |

Because once you fuse discs together you lose pretty much all mobility at that segment and it affects other parts of the body as well.
Fusion cannot be undone either. Fusion surgery is very outdated, IMO. - ImThatGuy
The issue with fusion are the adjacent levels. They deteriorate over time and potential will need to be fused at a later date.
Fusion 100% has a place and in today's technology not all patients are candidates for a TDR. Some can only be fused.

I don’t think Montreal has the stones to let him walk after losing Danault.
Especially after investing a 3rd OA pick to select him in the first place |

That would be a bold move by the Dolphins especially since they wouldn’t have a QB to start this season. There has to be a suspension coming for Watson.
My guess is Houston holds on to him while he serves his suspension and is traded in the off season. |

An RFA with a $6.1M QO next offseason.
If Montreal matches, they are over the offseason LTIR cap? |
