Just not with you on KA. I see weakness. It's hard to imagine screwing up his first year any worse than he did. It's sad really. I'm not enjoying the drama at all. I want to move on. - Lunaion
The list is expansive, including not trading Ullmark at the deadline because they thought they could re-sign him, only to have him sign with their long time rival.
There's an old saying in tennis that certainly applies to Adams first year as GM: You are your results.
Whether he made the decisions last offseason or was complicit in them, he wears it as he was the GM. |

Hypothetically, Ralph was working as the senior adviser in regards to signing players ect. He was working his way to the "hockey ceo" some have been clamoring for.
Kagm was being groomed, as a employee who the pegulas trusted. They were "grooming" KA under jbotts.
Not sure if the player decisions were his. Last year the Sabres signed players familiar with ralph, this year players familiar with new head coach donnie G.
There was definitely an out with this core, 1 year deals with players and expiring contracts.
Couple good trades for risto and sam proved he isn't overwhelmed.
So you want to take less for jack, just to get it over with?

The bold is the big problem I have with Adams and the entire thing they tried to do last offseason, as going for it, whatever that means, for one season and then tear it down if it doesn't work out, is not a plan. It's wishing and hoping for a miracle.
The time to make the big decisions was last offseason. They were already listening to Eichel offers back then.
Think about it: A healthy Eichel with 6 years left on his deal, 2 years of team control left on Reinhart, a year left on Ullmark, and 2 years left on Ristolainen.
Yes, the return on Ristolainen doesn't hurt, but I have a very difficult time believing they wouldn't have received better offers for Reinhart and Eichel last offseason compared to this one. |

She top flight by herself, let alone when compared to what is posted here on a regular basis.
It is much easier to back read though...just skip several posters and you cut down on 50%. |

His 1st year was nearly a complete disaster, no doubt. The saving grace, to some degree was the draft, in which I hope they picked 2 top 6 players. While I think Quinn will be a solid pick, I think a Rossi, Perfetti, Lundell or even Jarvis would have been better from a fit perspective especially. Peterka was solid as well.
This offseason is a step in the right direction with signing of fill-ins on low cost 1 year deals is ideal towards finishing 32nd and thereby securing a top 3 pick. Unfortunately, the market for F's weakened substantially to devalue the return on Sam, but the opposite occurred with Risto...it washes. I like the direction of the draft picks as well. Power is going to be a stud.
That said success will be largely be judged by Eichel's trade return...yet to be seen.

Good post
I like that the Sabres had 2 options:
Win with Hall and company or rebuild
Nobody should expect ka to come in as a GM and trade eichel immediately. (Trades take 18 months 🙂) Easy to say now that he's injured. Eichel with 5 or 6 years and healthy is similar.

Midnight scoop:
Hearing that the Sabres will host the Leafs in an outdoor game in Hamilton, ON on Sunday March 13th at Tim Hortons Field.
Expect an official announcement as early as this week. This is why the game is not included in Buffalo half-season tix packages.

Agreed on everything. Could add a few more names there too. They have 2 guys signed beyond next season. It's a mess.

My theory is Pegula will be selling to interests across the border and the sale will be finalized early next year just in time for this game. |

Isn't that the ideal situation for a rebuilding team?
They'll have complete flexibility moving forward as opposed to a team like the Sharks who have Karlsson, Burns, Kane and Vlassic under contract for four more years for a total of $33m, all of whom are on the wrong side of 30 |

Why would the Eagles trade for Minshew, unless they are trading Flaco back to the Broncos |

Leafs would never allow a team in Hamilton - Hank Balling
But they want a 2nd team in Mississauga? Yeah it wouldn't be up to them at that point.
They already threatened to move the Bills. Believe me, this confidence in the Sabres not becoming the Quebec or Hamilton club is unfounded if they don't start making money yesterday. |

I thought almost the exact same thing. It makes zero sense.
I think it's more a case of the Jaguars not wanting Minshew, who is going to be the new Ryan Fitzpatrick, breathing down Lawrence's neck all year. Because that kid has not looked good at all. |

Spot on.
Who the F on this current roster do we want to see on the team in 2 years that is signed long term?
Guys they can enter negotiations with, who are within 1 year of contract expiration:
- Dahlin
- Joker
- Olofsson
- Eakin
- Middlestadt
I think it is much ado about nothing. They have plenty of time. |
