oh come on, there are 6.1 million good reasons why KK would agree to that deal... Bergevin couldn't have said better himself, "if you want loyalty, get a dog". today's NHL is all about business, and to accept this generous offer was the most logical thing to do.

Don’t get me wrong, I did say the offer sheet was fair and KK agreeing is fine…. The message with the signing bonus was real stupid.

Calling this revenge is laughable. KK is nowhere near the level of Aho when MB offer sheeted him. What was Carolina thinking? Not only does this deal put them over the cap for a player that has yet to prove himself he is beyond 3C capabilites and 30-ish points a season but how much will Necas want in his next deal when it comes up next summer? He is easily better than KK by a country mile. From Montreal's perspective all MB has to do is take the picks and package them for another 2C (Dvorak?) and cut his losses. The headaches are far less for MTL if they let him walk than Carolina will have.

The sole purpose of revenge is to inflict damage on your target. Even if you have to take a hit in order to do it. Not unlike a suicide bomber. From a Carolina perspective it is mission accomplished. Montreal has been punished for their Aho indiscretion.

Lol, okay lets say MB takes his punishment like a man, lets KK walk and collect the 1st and 3rd. Meanwhile Carolina put themselves over the cap with this offer sheet so someone has to go and it won't be Jake Gardiner that nobody wants unless the deal is sweetened somehow, a 1st round pick maybe? Right it belongs to MTL now. Furthermore, I'm pretty sure Necas next contract demand will be well north of 6.1 mil not to mention the 6.1 mil he will need to qualify KK next summer as well. My question is, who is really getting spanked here?

Maybe Habs match offer and trade KK & Drouin + to Buffalo for Eichel.
- G - Man

Or don't match it take the canes picks and send them to buff for Eichel along with there own 1st

2 1sts and a 3rd for Eichel. They'd take that

Who says this is over anyway? LoL Carolina could offer sheet Nick Suzuki next, and say Nick wanted to play with his brother after all younger brother Ryan plays for Carolina, or the opposite can happen when Ryan’s deal is up Montreal can offer sheet him under the family reunited mantra. LoL

It would be a gamble to do so and he knows it. Whoever ends up with KK is banking hard on a solid increase in production otherwise an average KK season (30-35pts) messes up either team's salary structure.

Throw in Drouin and Guhle with an additional later round pick would do it

Even if Buffalo did trade with Montreal it's not going to be for Jonathan drouin. Buffalo is trading Jack to get rid of guys that quit on their team, not to take another one back

So by that logic then why would anyone give anything of value for such a player? You want to trade a bad attitude guy and get nothing but quality in return. You have to apply the same standards on both sides of the trade table

Then Waddell deserves to be fired and that’s really not a great analogy to use right now Spatso

He's nowhere close to being worth 6.1 million, a first and a third, and 20 million bonus. He'll turn in another underwhelming season and the canes will be stuck with a 6.1 qualifying offer. Dumb move by the canes.

20m bonus?

How does a 20m bonus add into a 1yr 6.1m contract? Different math up in Canada?

I think what Sabre fans are expecting for Eichel is completely unrealistic but if you think one late first, a most likely mid first, and a 3rd would get Eichel you’re a bit out of touch with reality. He would’ve been traded months ago if that were the ask.

It's $20 and he has to accept the offer MTL isn't a tough spot yet and they should take the picks. This will be an ongoing war between them unless MTL does the typical french thing and says i quit. I personally like the growing feud and hockey needs more of it.

I had high hopes for KK and wish we could have seen him develop here but it is what it is.
Let him go and next year offer sheet Necas. The Canes have to clear cap space now.
