I think that is the right answer. And, maybe it is important not to try and force a quick outcome. Let the season start and go shopping for a long term solution. There will be lots of sellers as we move into December.

I don't think they were "thinking", so much as being controlled by ego when they threw over 6 million dollars at a player who hasn't, cracked 15 goals in a season, albeit one with potential. They've screwed themselves with that contract and further qualifying offers if Montreal doesn't match (which they shouldn't).

They're even now, 1 for 1, I dont understand these fantasies about further "revenge".

Je suis d'accord par contre avec Hoffman, Caufield, Toffoli, Anderson et Gallagher en avant de lui comme ailiers je prefere Drouin au centre de la 2 avec un role offensif plutot que ailier sur la 3 ou la 4 dans un role defensif. Drouin est encore plus faible defensivement que faible au centre dans un role offensif selon moi c le moins pire des 2 scenarios quant a son utilisation. Mais ont verras bien

Not that he is a long term solution or anything.. but since Murray and Bergie are way back buddies - I wonder if he keeps salary 50% and gives Rico to you for nothing. He's been good for us.. A low bar but... he's a pro and fallen out of favor with the Swarm.. who knows why.. and had a good run playing in the games this summer.

I think the obvious "further revenge" is if Montreal matches...Carolina goes after Suzuki next summer. At this point Carolina is simply trying to hurt the Canadiens, even if they do damage to themselves. Molson and Bergeron need to find a way to make peace.
