Even though it looks like the Canes may have clowned themselves with a revenge move, the Habs are in a world of trouble being down two centers. MB wasn’t proactive after losing Danault and whether KK wanted to be there or not, MB didnt seem to have a plan, a vision or urgency to avoid going down 2 centers.They’ve lost leverage and if they want to chase Dvorak or Mony, they should expect to pay a steep premium.

Waddell likely wouldn't have made such a move if he didn't have some kind of agreement in place with KK on a bridge extension for probably less than his 1 year offer. Obviously the Canes will not surrender a 1rst round pick to sign him at 7M even if he doesn't pan out as expected.
