You think he plays for us again? I doubt it at this point personally. His value may be slightly better if the surgery is called successful, but unless he does play this was just them giving in...yet again.

Pure speculation but I wonder if this means the Sabres got a concrete offer from a team that is contingent on him getting his surgery, returning and doing X, y and z

Totally makes sense, and I hope it's true.

Could have either Surgery and be back on the ice by December training, doesn't mean he would be cleared for contact or anything. Even the replacement surgery they say most aren't cleared for atleast 5 months.

Teams want to see that he's right before they pay up. I'm sure neither side loves the idea of him coming back in the blue and gold but they may have finally realized that's the best path forward

I will say, if so, this wasn't the worst plan. I was under the impression he would never play for us again and as of yesterday one of the sticking points in all this was Sabres brass don't want him back.

Of course. And when Cozens and Dahlin decide they want to play for a better team I hope we get good prospects for them as well. Unfortunately we are creating that monster.

My guess is both parties have agreed to

A) Have the replacement surgery.

B) Get ready for a comeback in December.

C) Suit up and show you’re healthy

D) The offers will go up, thus facilitating a trade.

E) Give us a list of 10-15 teams you’re OK with and we’ll get it done. No guarantee it’ll be you preferred choice of Boston/NYR but it will be one of the 10-15 teams.
