And how does that help the team? It doesn't.

We can all sit here and pretend to know what is going on, and speculate, and have our opinions on things we know nothing about, but this option (playing hardball) does NOT help the team at all.

Getting Jack to the point where they can trade him for a nice return is all that should matter. I don't care who supposedly "caved" (did it ever occur to you that this was a mutual decision? One hand washes the other?). I only care about the assets we get for him, and if by getting him healthy maybe those assets get better.

I think it helps the team tremendously because it shows that we will not be taken hostage.

And we could have forced fusion, his value will be the same if he recovers from either surgery so to me it's a moot point. I don't think anyone believes he is going to retire.

While there's no way to judge impact, it didn't help his value for sure.

The whole "we want players who want to be here" thing works for good teams, for us, perpetually scraping the bottom of the barrel, we say "we want to show the players this is a great place to be" and keep it to that. Or at least we should've lol.

Yeah, really depends on your occupation, that MMA Fighter got cleared 5 1/2 months after his TDR.
