Anddddddd Jack blinked first. Who would've thunk it.

Now, he can come back and play in December, reestablish his value and we can get him onto that much preferred next team. Don't let the door hit ya where the good hockey gods split ya.

So, the timeline if accurate, heavily suggests Replacement surgery, which is Jack's preferred choice.
Given that assumption I'm interested in how Jack blinked first...or are you saying that because he fired his agent and rehired the premiere agenthat I can see.t.

Adams should not have budged on what: Eichel having the surgery he wants to have?

Wonder if the Sabres could ask to push back his ntc a year as a counter to allowing him the surgery he wants?
- Michael Pachla

I doubt he would do that, but if he's back Jan 1, that gives him 2 months of NHL play and the Olympics to show what he's got. Trade him at the draft

Or he plays 5 games and gets 7 points and he's dealt in January

The object is to avoid as many breakouts as possible while being as least intrusive, and least expensive as possible. 14 days didn't cut it, as we saw some significant breakouts throughout the league. They're hoping 7 days is enough to isolate a reduce the number of "close contacts". Then, there's the fact that these test aren't cheap. They essentially have to double the number of test kits now. Going to every four days increases them even more.
- buffalofan19

Ya, I get the cost aspect as a consideration, but don't buy it when looking objectively.
If there is an organization that can handle the additional cost, it is the NFL and NFLPA.

If it's replacement, he didn't, he won and I'm displeased.

Saw 6-8 weeks quoted based on that Dr. Prusmack or whatever. December being 12-16 weeks from now (double that diagnosis) lead me to believe it was fusion.

This isn't black and white enough to have tunnel vision, there is an organization to focus on and him being there is a lingering issue that has the ability to compound quickly.

Jack Eichel is a star in this league regardless of his behavior towards the Sabres, its in their interest to get him to peak performance to demand the high return ask.

Remove emotions from this situation do what needs to be done to move on while getting the highest return.

Just because they "can" doesn't mean they want to, or even necessarily should.

Who cares who won? All we should care about is the return we get for him.

I'm not so sure. RoR...Skinner...Hall...Jack, the list of teams that got over on us is growing pretty long.

I'm tired of letting the children run the class. I'd have literally told him to get fusion and play or retire.

The return will never meet the player. This is him forcing us to hurt the franchise. I think it's good practice to strongly discourage this type of behavior. No better time to start that policy than right now.

I think you're the only one seeing it this way.

He gets healthy, comes back, shows the league that he's OK, then they can move on.

Is he the best player in the deal? Sure. But he always was going to be, in any scenario.

Pure speculation but I wonder if this means the Sabres got a concrete offer from a team that is contingent on him getting his surgery, returning and doing X, y and z

If this helps the Sabres to not get Berglunded again then it's a good thing imo

You think he plays for us again? I doubt it at this point personally. His value may be slightly better if the surgery is called successful, but unless he does play this was just them giving in...yet again.

I think that's absolutely part of the plan if they allowed him to get his surgery

Fine, at this point I could care less what we do with Eichel. You look at the 2 young captains we have in Eichel and Allen and they could not be more different. Allen is a true team guy first, guy plays with all the intangibles, would take a bullet for his teammates and shows it every day/week on the field, while Jack would rather shield himself from the bullet by pulling one of his teammates into the line of fire.

you could trade him for a back of donkey ballz, 36 used toothpicks and a used Pontiac Aztec and I would be happy

Interesting. That sounds like a bigger nightmare than trading him for peanuts. He's going to put his Sabres stuff back up on Twitter now and get his C back too? This is getting very strange.

Teams want to see that he's right before they pay up. I'm sure neither side loves the idea of him coming back in the blue and gold but they may have finally realized that's the best path forward
