Do you honestly think Aho wanted to be in Montreal? I think Kotkaniemi wants out but he was offered more money than he'd likely have got over two if not three seasons, he'd have been stupid to not sign it
- Takemedrunkimhome

Two seasons ago Aho would have wanted out of CAR, not sure about now. Either way, whether MTL matches or not I wouldn’t expect KK to be here past this season

He says he never had a clue an offer sheet was coming his way. Aho didn’t even speak directly with Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin or have long to weigh the pros and cons before signing a heavily front-loaded $42.27-million, five-year deal with the Habs on July 1.

“There was not a lot of time to think about it,” said Aho. “A day. A day. It happened really fast. It was really important to start the season on time, to me. That helped to get there.

“It felt like the right thing to do at the moment.”

so, Suzuki, Evans, Poehling.
could Drouin really be an option?

way too early to tell, a lot of things could happen in the next few days.

but no. they'd probably consider Perreault before Drouin, as it would be dumb to give the latter these center responsibilities when he's just coming back and hasn't played in a while. turrible idea, imho.

well, I know it's not the ideal solution. first time around it didn't work.
he didn't miss 3 years, he missed a few months. they have so many wingers... it would really be best if one could fill in at center.

hey, if Drouin actually wants to be at center and Ducharme feels like giving this experiment a second shot, I guess they could try it out, but putting him at wing with strictly offensive duties sounds more like a recipe for success.

oh for sure. maybe they'll trade one of their gazillion wingers for a center.

maybe Ylonen could try his luck at center. he's a good passer, great vision, very good skater... won't be easy at the faceoffs circle but hey. no place on the RW anyway.

I can appreciate the talk generated by things like offer sheets, but I'm not a big fan of gossip concerning the players' personal lives.

Has anyone suggested getting Alex Barré-Boulet from Tampa to be KK's replacement?
Hometown lad, too! It does not seem as if Tampa is playing him that often, prolific scorer in the AHL. Should only cost a 2nd at most.

he has 15 games of NHL experience, and you would put him as 2C..?

not saying he wouldn't be a good fit, but what they need right now is a bit of experience and stability.

Hearing from a buddy of mine that was talking to the brother of Frank Vatrano on the Panther. Supposedly Eichel was talking to Frank at Jimmy Hayes wake and told him he was going to Montreal. Third hand at best not sure how much I believe this

Rumored that the Canes already have a long term extension in place for KK around $4M aav. I’d be curious if GMMB has had any success with newer extension talks these past few days.

It’s a bold and risky move, but I like young player under term for $4M. It’s a very weird situation all around. Fans on both sides won’t have a clear picture on a winner or loser of this for years if CAR gets KK.
