Rumored that the Canes already have a long term extension in place for KK around $4M aav. I’d be curious if GMMB has had any success with newer extension talks these past few days.
It’s a bold and risky move, but I like young player under term for $4M. It’s a very weird situation all around. Fans on both sides won’t have a clear picture on a winner or loser of this for years if CAR gets KK. - FinnGod
If Carolina gets KK our center line is going to like poop (even more than right now) for years. So you guys either (frank) our salary cap and set dangerous comparables for Suzuki and Caufield in one and two years or you get an ok player who hasn't reached his full potential yet for a 1st round pick which is going to be in the 20-32 range so a long shot and a third who will probably never play in the NHL. I think Carolina is a clear winner here. |

Thank you. I was patting myself on the back over it (I may need more depth in my life) |

I'd agree but add one caveat: Carolina may not "win" but no matter how it plays out Montreal definitely lost |

Well there's the scenario where the Habs match and KK has a great season.
That would be a win in my book.

yeah I think we look (frank)ed in here, but Bergevin might make a trade for a young C. But it will cost more than a 1st and a third to get it done. |

With a flat cap for years and Suzuki to sign next summer? How much will he then ask?
I think he will or at least might, but he has to have a B plan. Or C. |

I think Suzuki is/was gonna get paid regardless of the offersheet.
It has little to no impact on him imo.

That's scraping together to call it a win when in theory without the offer sheet he'd have played the same but for much less, let alone the qualifying/arbitration implications and those on future youth contracts attached |

do you think he even wants to be a Habs after this season (if they match)?
I really don't think he liked the way he has been used by the Habs so far |
