I guess you have to consider the worst-case scenarios :

1-Worst-case scenario if MB lets KK walk: he flourishes in CAR and becomes the center that the habs needed, while MTL is unable to find a decent replacement with the compensation picks.

2-Worst-case scenario if MB matches the offer: KK sucks and becomes another Galchenyuk-type situation, and the habs are tight against the cap with the 6.1M salary so they're unable to acquire a decent top 6 C.

pick your poison loll

The center position is such a struggle for this team. It's incredible. One management after the other. It's like this elusive thing that everybody comprehends except guys who get hired here.

well they drafted KK to solve that problem. Traded for Danault and Suzuki as well. They were heading in the right direction, or let's say things were looking better. But now it's like one step ahead, two step backwards.

yup, like I was saying I thought after all this time they were finally stabilizing things at that position, but things can change so damn quickly.

and I guess I'd prefer scenario #2, seeing KK become really good in CAR would suck so (frank)ing much...

MB: "Awwwe. A first and a third? I wanted a Kotkaniemi."

MB's Brain: "A first and a third can get multiple Kotkaniemis!"

MB: explain how

MB Brain: "draft picks can be exchanged for other players."

MB: "WOOHOO!"

- BINGO!

Well played. Bravo

I think he matches and see from there. The biggest problem is he has to sign suzuki next summer.

And if he did not want to go over 5M by 500k for Danault, why would he over pay that much here?
