oh that's cool

I wonder how long it's gonna take before other countries start catching up on the US and Canada

- Pat1993

Well at the last championship Canada only got Bronze because Finland beat them in the semi-final. Mind you MPP was out with a knee injury but still

oh so there's more parity than before, that's good. I'm just surprised all those European teams weren't in the mix for so long, I guess they didn't invest as much resources in women's hockey, or the programs and level of skill in North America are just that good.

well if there's enough talent to form multiple teams then yeah, for sure. it might be too early if the product on the ice is too diluted, but perhaps there are already enough talented women playing to go ahead with it, I have no clue really what the numbers are and how popular it's gotten.

Finland and Switzerland are getting there but both Canada and the USA are starting to see big turnovers as we’re kind at the end of a generation. Canada has got 8 new players and USA has got 10. So much talent that vets like Laurianne Rougeau were cut to make way for talented youngsters, it’s cool but kind of like the end of an era

I can only speak for where I lived, Demark.
1. Hockey Equipment is very expensive
2. Arenas, lack of, ice time is expensive
3. Soccer is popular and next to nothing to outfit your Child
4. Handball is more popular than Hockey

I would guess it's similar across most of Euro, Soccer and Handball are more popular among Youth.

That could be good they could work with the mens’ team just like in the EPL or the NBA, the men teams generate so much revenue that they could afford to do that

exactly. they could share the arena, hr and mktg, the doctors and trainers... not much to invest if you're the owner. work to create down the road a brand new market for your men hockey team by interesting girls to hockey.

right, I guess I didn't consider the popularity of other sports, those countries aren't necessarily focusing solely on hockey like Canada is. and sadly yes hockey is one of the most expensive sports to play, hard to get around that.
