Garnie, from the last blog...I was kidding, I don't have three expensive sports cars, it was a metaphor for MM,AM,JT...and getting the CyberTruck was like a #1RHD that I couldn't afford. I have one sports car, one SUV and the Cyber will be one pick up. BALANCE.
*trades Marner
Aaron, your argument against mine for not letting assets walk for nothing was an apples and oranges argument. Adding a rental at the TDL is much different then signing or trading your own best players before they walk. Try again. |

It isnt apples and oranges. You're deflecting and focusing on a single view point without looking at a larger picture. You have blinders on to make youre argument seem good.
If your argument is that no team, going for it or not, should let assets walk for nothing then who is going to trade for those expiring contracts? Why should another team pay anything if they will ultimately have to let the player walk? Why didn't the lightning trade Coleman and goodrow at the deadline? They literally lost 2/3rds of their 3rd line to free agency and by your logic they didn't know they would win this year so why should they have kept them? They got swept two years prior as THE cup favourite in the first round so there absolutely was no way to know they would win this year.
You made it general and not specific to the leafs and the context surrounding their team.
Context matters. Context of going for it or not matters here. You made it apples vs oranges when you decided to take that away and make it generalized to keep your viewpoint and/or hate the leafs and Dubas.
There are flaws in your logic and you are trying to deflect and say im wrong instead of actually debating with me or anyone else here without blinders on.

Well they won the cup the previous year...so they had good chances this year.
Unlike the leafs, who havent made it past the 1st in over a decade, dont really have a full cupboard of prospects/picks, have had D issues for years (outside of last season) and now they could let their "prized" D walk for nothing.
But
With the Parayko signing.....there is no way Morgan should get anything over 6.5. So he probably stays.
Unless Dubas......Dubas's |

You’re 100% wrong.
Parayko is 2nd pairing
Rielly is top pairing and averages 3-4mins more a game against tougher forward lines |

Colorado was the favourite going into the playoffs. The point underhill made though was that it didn't matter if the team is going for it or not, never let assets walk for nothing.
No guarantees regardless of "good chances".
Coliacavo (sp?) talks about his time with the blues and they were the cup favourite and got swept in round 1. Good chances mean nothing. (leafs are a good example of that

You may be right...but (not that you can get him now but just my opinion is) I'd rather have Parayko at his new contract than what I fear Rielly may get on his next one.
I would be very happy to be proven wrong by Rielly signing an incredibly sweet 'team deal' to stay in Toronto but I don't see it happening.
Also - as much as I like Rielly he simply hasn't been part of a team getting it done when it matters the most so perhaps losing him and his losing ways isn't the worst thing ever? I mean when a guy like Sandin looks for some savy vet advice on how to win that ever important game 7 who will he ask? (Can't say Muzzin - he's dead) |
