How would you make the cap floor if you didn't match? - kingcong39
Anderson just got a huge raise for 1 year to lead the Tank..err losing with dignity march.
As Murray said, there isn't a problem making the Cap Floor.
The risk of an OS right now I believe is between 0 and 2% while they are negotiating a deal. It's the threat if they go with a short-term deal that becomes more likely. |

What would be the worst? I'll go with 4 years @ 8.2m. first/second/third comp and makes him a UFA at the earliest possible date. You'd have to match, and you'd be pissed. - Lunaion
I'll escalate your idea further: The team offering the offer sheet back loads the deal in such a way that it complicates things for the Sabres in terms of being able to make the cap floor this season if they do match. |

|
ty...a quick ask, he'll still have three more rfa seasons, correct? - Michael Pachla
Yes. Would take him 7 seasons to hit UFA.

Meh, then extend him at the end of year 3 for 8 years....call the whole scenarios "Canes-Habs Duel -The Sequell".
Once extended, OS the other team's RFA, lol! - IonSabres
I know you're joking considering where the Sabres will be picking the next 2 seasons. |

Nobody knows anymore ... there are no "insiders" except what the Org wants leaked.
I'm flipping to a 30% chance he stays here...primarily after he sees what the team plays like under a longer Granato run. Just keep him out long enough to secure a 2nd to garner a top 3 pick I. '22.
Eichel, Wright, Cozens, Mitts down the middle would be unbelievable! - IonSabres
Is it odd that Shawn Simpson had that piece of info on Eichel and not Friedman (who has become the media mouthpiece for Eichel with the back doctor story, and then broke the agent switch story)?
If Eichel wanted that info out there I think it goes through Friedman. |

Is that even possible? It's cap floor, not a $ floor, isn't it?

Yeah still would go by AVV for the whole contract would it not, but could be wrong. |

I'm talking about offering a max term deal where the AAV for offer sheet purposes would be higher then the actual AAV if the Sabres matched. |

so a three year deal would take him to an arb-eligible, final year of restricted free agency? |

I'm thinking in terms of structuring the deal in such a way that the offer sheet AAV is higher then the actual AAV if the Sabres were to match, when you factor in the Sabres desire to trade Eichel and take as little cap back as possible. |

Yes, it would be the Reinhart situation again. |

ic...fair enough, it very well could be a skunk situation...that said
i'm still going with 2/3 yr deal or 8yr deal...no in between...and my preference would be a two-year deal at $5.5m per |

or put it off for two years, which would be third year of the kagm regime:
tim murray--3yrs, 3 mo
botts--3 yrs, 1 mo
adams--tbd |

I'm not sure if it's gotten any play here but Kyle Okposo said he's been skating with Eichel.
Maybe that doesn't mean anything, maybe it does - Hank Balling
