By a thread.
They held out Williams in preseason game 3 and played Gordon. It’s telling - sbroads24
Absolutely.
Melvin is the starter “for now” at least.
He got the reps in that game because he didn’t have any preseason reps up until that point.
He also averaged 7 yards a carry in that game so it certainly didn’t hurt his cause |

That's a fact. The Sabres will have to decide if they want to bury him on the 3rd line and get 12 goals out of him, or give him prime o zone opportunities and potentially get 30+
For pure entertainment sake I hope it's the latter. Jeff Skinner is one of the most fun players to watch on this team (when he's not dead inside). His skating is a show in itself - Hank Balling
i like his on-ice, in-your-face attitude...when he's on, the opposition hates him |

Jeff Skinner - The most forgiven underachieving player in all of Buffalo sports history. He may be psychologically damaged because they tried to make a stronger team and not a one-line team again with his supposedly outstanding skills that he was able to utilize without a stud center in Carolina which didn't psychologically damage him. My psyche would be nurtured with those two years of 10 million dollars he was paid and 9 million average. By the way Granato played him on the 4th line because his figure skating wasn't cutting it.

I understand that I'm not going to change your mind on Skinner, but if the Sabres want to get anything out of him then he'll need to play a good amount of even-strength minutes with quality puck distributors. Playing him 4th line minutes will ensure they get next to nothing out of him |

I'm beginning to believe this is the acronym that began the craze which has swept every Department of the United States government. You cannot put forward a position paper of any kind without having a fancy acronym for whatever program idea or whatever it is you're trying to push.
I'll bet Ralph Krueger had an acronym for everything he did with the Sabres |

I know I am not going to change your mind and MOJO was not terrible and he was not playing with all world centers in Carolina and produced with goals some years there. They wanted to dump him and not look back too and Rod Brind'AMour could not get rid of him fast enough who is a respected coach, I am quite comfortable in where I stand with how I feel about him. The Sabres team, and culture would grow without such a weak individual as Jeff Skinner and the Sabres fan base and media who lick his balls for failure are pathetic.

He's also not a center; he's a 3LW.
It's a self-fulling prophecy to say "he sucks. Put him on the 4th line." If they do that, then that's what they'll get out of him: 4th line production. |

Some are always grasping for an excuse to forgive the greatest underachieving player in Buffalo sports history. I thought it would end after two years of failure but no, it just continues and this is blog was like it was written by his agent or something. This isn't new most Twitter media and some WGR still fawn over the guy.
If this was Toronto or Montreal, Ottawa, Calgary, Philly, Boston etc Skinner would have been held accountable by now, but there are a lot of little boys in Buffalo.

Hank you had a good point if skinner runs his mouth. Cozens has to step up! With all these you players . They need more toughness!
They are to soft. Hayden is a step in the right direction. Most of the sabres are small forwards. You yourself have stated that. Here is an idea trade for Milan Lucci take it as a celery dump.
Just having him in the line and his reputation . Will give this team a toughness. Just having him in the line up.
Second option the sabres have 3 it the toughest. Get the Rob Ray Andrew peters and Craig Rivet to teach this team how to fight. They were 3 of the best in their eras in their time! |

You mean the guy that signed a 1 year 1.5 contract with an expansion team? Skinner needs to play better period. But you're beating him down for other reasons then he just plain needs to play better. Mojo was bad. He was traded for an equally bad Stall. The league agrees that Mojo is bad. |

How would GilPerreault11 do to hold him accountable? Just curious. I'm not a Skinner guy completely, just don't think he's worthless. Contract def is a severe negative value, but the hockey player is still useful, if used correctly. |

The most underachieving player in Buffalo sports history is ranked 23rd in the league in 5 on 5 goals since 2018-19
His biggest crime is having the worst coach in NHL history hating him.
And before people try and take away his 40 goal season, he still ranks 109th in 5 on 5 goals in these two below average seasons. Which is second line level
He’s massively overpaid and still good |

MOJO was so bad he was on the Sabres #1 PP because he could skate and pass, control the puck. He was not bad, and he played center beginning in 2009. He was so bad the Sabres got Stahl for them who they thought was going to be their 2nd line center. He had some abilities, not a star, not great but not bad as the narrative states and you repeat. He is getting old now, has averaged just over 40 pts a year. Bad?
Now, I knew the apologist would come out because you and they just can't help yourselves you have draped yourselves around a loser and you have to find excuses for him now.

As we discussed at our recent cody. eakin. Luncheon, skimmer is not at fault.
Seriously: you're always riding him.
Skimmer signs a 9 million a year contract and puts out 21 goals and 16 assists for 37 points since
Not bad for 112 games ....
Very easy to defend him.
Florida is paying their goalie a lot of money, so skimmer is great still. I'm 100% sure about this, the smartest guy around loves the guy, that's good enough for me.
Oh and ralph. Ralph is a bad man and mean to jeffy.
This is completely his fault, 0% the players fault. ☝️ |

He is underachieving. The most underachieving ever is a tad hyperbolic.
He has one truly bad season, one mediocre to decent, one fantastic.
If he has another terrible season it’s a discussion |

He played center his rookie year and wing thereafter until he came to the Sabres |
